Team game has been inconsistent since 4 nations. Team also looks gassed.

Both things are signs of a young team, which is fine I guess.

We take this series in 6 or 7. It’s going to be up and down. The Caps have been fucking around for 2 months now. Worst possible state to be in.

In recent games, the power play has reverted back to what we saw in previous years. Really lost. Overpassing, hesitation and passing off to someone in a lower percentage situation who then shoots and gets blocked, etc. And at times when the other teams break out and/or enter the zone, the seas seem to part. We did a little better there last night, but it often goes to shit quickly.

All that said, I'm not dismissing the possibility of going on another run......

So far this year time off have helped. Definitely for guys like Suzuki and Hutson.

I know that the Andy-DVO-Gally line had a nice stretch where they were useful, but they've kinda disappeared again. I'd like to see something like this.

Opposing teams would have to respect the bumper, especially Cole, and would be able to cheat over to Laine like they have been doing.

There is no play down low without a bumper to do the triangle, that’s why they just keep circling the puck around, setting up shots from the outside.

Kapanen would work in the bumper on PP2.

Actually Kapanen was playing bumper on PP2. It’s PP1 that suddenly changed to an umbrella system and I don’t like it.

What doesnt make sense is if other teams are overplaying Laine, shouldn't that leave someone else open?

Ive never seen a team so inept at clearing the zone. All this kicking around, trying to deke opponents at our own blue line instead of just doing an easy out of the glass. It's annoying. When you have a chance to clear, take it.

I guess you forget when we all bitched here that their d-zone breakouts consisted of slamming the puck off the glass.

In my mind, in order:

1) Breakout pass
2) Flip
3) Hard off glass

Flip is a low percentage play but give us a chance for turnovers. Off glass is a giveaway or icing.
