GDT | Game 87 | at Washington | Wednesday, April 30th | 7:00 PM EDT. Go For Broke!

Not at all (but I'm flattered you used my line) because Wehave judges players he hates solely by championships won
No player, no matter how successful, can be considered truly elite without at least one championship. That's why Ernie Banks, who never played in a World Series, isn't as famous or well regarded as Willie Mays, who did win a World Series, or why Bruce Smith, who played in 4 Superbowls, isn't considered as good as Mean Joe Greene, who won 4 Superbowls.

On talent alone, Suzuki is a better, more talented centre than Brian Skrudland, but Skrudland has a ring, which means from a fan's perspective, he achieved more than Suzuki has. Fans don't, nor should they, give a shit about a player's personal stats. Fans should only ever concern themselves with team stats and team accomplishments. We only have parades and hang banners for Cup wins, nothing else. We won't be hanging a banner for Hutson winning the Calder and we won't be having a parade to celebrate Demidov's first NHL goal.

And we are not retiring Price's number based on his zero Cups won.

Yet you won't say Emmitt Smith was better than Barry Sanders despite it being 3-0

Smith had a more successful career due to his team winning championships, but he was not a better running back than Sanders. Sanders just had an "emptier" career because he retired without winning the big one. Same with Dan Marino. He was a better QB than Aikman but Aikman got the rings.

and you judge based on championships so using that as a basis, Smith had more longevity, most yards of all time, won more playoff games and more championships. Hard to place him behind Sanders.

Aikman didn't care about numbers, he just won.

Not "better" as an individual player, just more successful as a player on a team. The object of any team sport is to win championships. Not winning one diminishes you somewhat.
