GDT | Game 9 | @ Golden Knights | Monday, October 30 | 10PM EST

Not all the D will pan out, but yeah, someone will be moved.

And then there’s Monahan, Dvorak, Anderson, Pearson and Savard.

And a f@ck-ton of drafts picks in ‘25.

As former Expos manager Buck Rodgers used to say - you’re going to win 25% of the games you should lose, and lose 25% of the games you should win, it’s all about what you do with remaining 50% of the games.
That's true of most pro sports aside from football, where the relatively short schedule makes every game important. But hockey (82 games) and baseball (162 games) don't work like that. In the NHL, a team "mails in" probably 20 of it's 82 games, if not more. They don't necessarily lose all 20 of them, either. Vegas played a lot of hockey last season because they went all the way. They had a shorter summer than every team except Florida. They expect to have a long playoff run this season too. So a Monday night in October against a non-conference bottom feeder like the Habs is not the sort of game they're going to bust their asses trying to win.

Record is irrelevant (and besides, the goaltending is catastrophic.)

Anyway, what also tracks is that Harvey-Pinard, Ylonen, Barron, etc. all went through Laval to good effect. That’s what matters.

Agreed record doesnt mean much

Its all about player development but most teams are stacked with vets who have no NHL future

Winning is nice but these rosters go through so much turnover that creating a winning culture is hard to do
