Gio's been decent this year but he's old and was so terrible in the playoffs last year that he's never gonna start.

Timmins is never gonna start, deserved or not.

But as much as he's struggled I don't see how we can afford not to gamble on playing Brodie. We need him in over one of the goons.

you'd think benoit might be vulnerable too but Benoit-McCabe has probably been too reliable in tough usage for him to come out.

I think it's probably a Brodie-Boosh decision and it kinda has to be Brodie. As much as he's struggled he's way better than boosh.

Too funny. I love this fantasyland you live in. Please send over directions.

Baboon is a fucking lock for every game of the series unless we’re down like 3-0 or something.

The question is, why the fuck did Trefucker extend Keefe in the offseason? What the fuck was the rationale behind that?

Anything that provides any disincentive to terminating his oversized ass should've been avoided at all costs.
soften the blow when he shitcans him at the end of the year, and prevent him from being a lame duck, would be my guesses

If Boosh is in the game 1 lineup over Brodie that’s just insane. Brodie has been horrible, but it’s not even really a question of who is better. Boosh just shouldn’t see the ice in the playoffs. Especially with Edmundson and Benoit in the lineup already. He brings nothing positive to the table.

Wrong. He brings proof positive that you can be a professional hockey player despite having the brain and skill of a common baboon.

Schenn went right into Riellys pair and never left, like Boosh before him. Earned is a strong word. Lilly was still way better.

by the end, schenn had earned that spot fair and square.

filling in the two question marks from natural stat trick:

Mar15: Rielly-Brodie
Mar21: Rielly-Gustafsson

Regardless of whether it was their plan or not (and yeah it absolutely was penciled in), he absolutely did earn it and Liljegren did fumble the bag after last year's deadline. I didn't have much complaints about how that played out. If he goes rielly-boosh this year it's a whole different thing tho. And I'm not confident he won't do that against the big bad Bruins.

I don't love using NST's xgf% metric but i can't run a query on both linemates and by date on evolving, so here's how the D-pairings have done this year since the trade deadline, via NST:

Since the deadline this year:

Rielly-Lyubushkin: 117:00, 50.7xgf%, 46.0gf%
Rielly-Brodie: 45:05, 61.8xgf%, 63.2gf%

(lol. lmao, even.)

Rielly-McCabe: 37:36, 61.8xgf%, 88.2gf%
Rielly-Liljegren: 25:10, 65.3xgf%, 100.0gf%

Benoit-McCabe: 124:53, 56.1xgf%, 58.0gf%
Brodie-McCabe: 69:31, 41.7xgf%, 35.0gf%
McCabe-Liljegren: 20:40, 80.0xgf%, 50.0gf%

Edmundson-Liljegren: 94:06, 48.0xgf%, 76.8gf%

Brodie-Lyubushkin: 73:31, 44.9xgf%, 61.7gf%

Giordano-Timmins: 57:56, 67.5xgf%, 57.0gf%
Benoit-Timmins: 42:58, 50.1xgf%, 48.1gf%
