GDT - Keep winning : Flyers @ Leafs | 7:30PM EST

number17

Mod Squad
We won the first game of what I considered a 'critical 5 games stretch' and tonight we'll face a more competent opponent in the Flyers, so we've gotta play better than we did vs. the Wings too.

here's hoping the win gives the team some much needed confidence back, and we can build off that momentum.

No lineup change expected tonight (which is a shame, Leivo should play ahead of Martin and Sosh).

Rielly, Zaitsev, the whole 4th line and even Matthews had a pretty bad game vs. the Wings, so they gotta step it up tonight.

The Flyers are 2 points behind us in the wild card chase, so we need to fend them off and keep separating ourselves from teams behind us.

Go Leafs Go!!!!

No excuses tonight - we're the better team from top to bottom.

Sidenote: I'll always find it hilarious that Brayden Schenn became the one dimensional offensive winger and Nazem Kadri became the dominant 2-way center.

No Bozak at practice this morning, and with the exception of the Matthews group, Babcock has really put his lines through a blender:

James van Riemsdyk - Nazem Kadri - Mitch Marner
Leo Komarov - Brian Boyle - Connor Brown
Zach Hyman - Auston Matthews - William Nylander
Matt Martin - Eric Fehr - Nikita Soshnikov
Extra: Josh Leivo

Well Matthews played with the plugs last game. Looks like the Boyle line will be a pure shutdown line.. and you know what? It looks like a damn good line too.

That's an UGLY lineup we have, if Bozak is indeed unavailable.

I'd much rather play Willy in 3C and play Leivo, who has been effective in the 12 games he played (9pts!)

Leivo - Matthews - Brown
Komarov - Kadri - Marner
JVR - Willy - Hyman
Martin - Boyle - Sosh

Yeah, I'm really curious to see that Kadri line.

And Leivo kinda sucked the last few games he played. Let's not get too caught up in his one solitary goal and eight assists. The guy is supposed to be a scorer, and he's gotten progressively worse the more chances he's gotten.

I'd prefer the goat too, but I guess it is fair to give Fehr a look. Afterall, he did play in evrey Pens game, so it's not like he's a marginal NHL player or an AHL callup.

I like goat but he has a lot of work to do still.

Fehrs a 500 gp vet w playoff experience. This is a no brainer

And are least he didn't go to Smith

Anyways I'd love to swap brown and hyman and have a big cycle line.

But I like these lines. Big chance for naz

Looks like we face Neuvirth tonight. He's been a tire fire this season but somehow posted a .964 against us last game

Last 5 starts: 1-4 .858sv%. No excuse to lose facing a guy like that

Yeah, this.

I think Goat showed this year that he might possibly be a serviceable NHLer at some point, which is more than I ever expected from him.

But he's clearly not there yet. All he is right now is better than Ben Smith, which isn't saying a whole lot.

So yeah, give a shot to the guy who took a regular shift at center for the Stanley Cup champs last regular season, in the playoffs and this season.

Will be interesting to see if Kadri can drag JVR and Mitchy to respectable possession numbers.
