It's great to get another 2 points and rack up another wins ... pretty wins, ugly wins, these wins all rack up at the end of the season and with the Leafs team you never know what happens down the road so it's always good to rack up the points when you can
- It's the 2nd game of a back to back, so gotta cut them some slack
- Because of our offensive depth, and because I think we're getting a lot of the bounces right now, this team can just score at will. We're THAT good offensively right now
- Kadri's line was +2, Bozak's line was -2 ... at least Carlyle is finally giving Kadri's line more minutes than Bozak's, and he's been doing that for a few games now
- To be fair, I don't think Bozak, JVR or Kessel were directly responsible for any of the 3 LA goals. That said, every time the Leafs were hemmed in for extended period of time, I ALWAYS saw #21, #81 and #42 on the ice. Their biggest problem is they're EXTREMELY soft. I saw Bozak cruising right beside Brown carrying the puck, whereas Kadri would have pushed / hit / harrassed Brown to steal the puck from him or at least give him a hard time. I saw JVR skating right by instead of into the board with the puck coming around, because he's afraid of contact by the board. The 1st line has no problem with speed but they're un-committed and very soft to defensive plays.
- Now, all that said, when the game was 3-2 LA, and I was looking for game-breakers to give us the big goal, the 1st line delivered on PP.
- 1st LA goal should have been disallowed, still Gardiner's play after failing to knock it down with the high stick, should have been take the man ... it's more unlucky bounce than Gardiner's fault though.
- And Reimer should have had the 2nd one ... that one's on the goalie. Still, I don't understand why Phaneuf didn't make a stronger play on the LA player (forgot who that was) ... I know he scored on his first attempt, but he could have had scored on the rebound easily with Phaneuf letting him come out.
Right now the team's playing with a LOT of confidence and they're playing hard for one another, and the results are showing. I don't doubt there will be hard times ahead, but right now because of the depth and because of the higher 'compete level' (heh) I see this is a much more developed and much more mentally stronger team than last year's.
Go leafs Go!
