GDT - Leafs @ Caps, HNIC, Nov 25

That doesn't make sense; You can guarantee we lose in Carolina with Mac, you can't guarantee we win at home with Andersen.
Yeah, even with the benefit of hindsight, Babcock played it the right way with his goalies this weekend.

If McElhinney was in net for that Carolina game, we lose it for sure. So either way, at best we're still going 1-1 on the back-to-back.

You guys are thinking I’m saying we should’ve still split them.

I’m saying Andersen should’ve played both. The backup should’ve played against Arizona, Montreal, etc.

numbers show pretty clearly that good starters become bad backups in the 2nd half of back to backs.

Freddy is on fire right now. And didn’t he shut them out last time? I would’ve much preferred that he play.

Also, I hate seeing the backup play on Saturday night.

Yeah the stats show that starting a goalie back to back is a bad move. By a large margin. Splitting is just playing the odds.

Besides McelRoy wasn't even that bad. He gave up a goal on a breakaway and two to Ovie. Anderson may have had one of them but its not like he stunk up the joint. It wasn't close to one of the worst goalie performances we've had this year.

The Leafs played a good game, and didn't give up much. Ovie is just one of those few guys that doesn't need much to win a game for his team. If they play like that they'll continue to win most games. This Babs criticizing is crazy.

On the goalie thing, maybe.

But on the demotion of Marner or Nylander whenever we're sluggish, definitely not.

It's a joke the way he played Nylander with Martin and Moore last night. An utter joke. Instead of not playing the fourth line at all, he drops one of his best players to it and basically nullifies their impact. How many games this year have one of those two guys been on the fourth line? Half of the games? More? It's ****ing stupid and I'm getting pretty annoyed by seeing it. I mean, we need ****ing GOALS when we're down 3-0. Maybe drop Komarov down to the fourth line and stack the top three? How about Hyman? How about ****ing Bozak who has never even received the slightest tap on the wrist despite being the worst forward on the team by a country mile? Not even kidding when I say this, but I would rather have Martin on the ice than Bozak this year. I'd only take Bozak over Moore, who is equally awful.

weird week, really. we didn't play great but we were the better team in 3 of the 4 games. but the only game we won was the 1 we weren't....and we weren't even close that game.

And our record when Polak plays only becomes more stellar. Glad he was back there instead of Carrick, who's been playing well and would have had an axe to grind against the Caps.

Lou has to remove some of these toys of his. No more Polak, no more Moore, no more Bozak. We're instantly better. Instantly.

Babs has gotten the most out of literally everyone on the team. The whole team had career years last year, and with the exception of Bozak they all are on pace to repeat or improve this year. On top of that they have been winning.
Its laughable to criticize Babs' handling of the roster IMO. It would be hard to find someone that can do a better job that he has the last year and a third-ish.

Polak got his 5gms in to start, then got benched. He played last night in the last game of a 4gms in 6 nights stretch. I doubt he's in next game.

I wouldn't mind seeing Bozak on the 4th line but he shouldn't be benched.

Moore is barely a fulltime member of the team. Babs sits him out regularly.

Polak is the Leafs 7th dman and Moore is their 13th/14th forward. Its not like those guys are playing a lot. No team only players 18 players all season.

They should play their best players as much as they can.

That means no Polak ever, other than in case of injuries. And definitely not when playing a good team.

And as between healthy players, Bozak should never be getting more ice time than Nylander or Marner. Ever.

Ovie was the difference last night. Game-breakers do that.

Matty still looks off.

Marner looks like he has rediscovered his mojo, but Bozak needs to get his head out of his ass.

Mcbackup was fine, hard to fault him too much on Ovie snipes. Second goal wasn't ideal, but hard to blame McE for the loss. Caps did a good job keeping us from getting much in the way of scoring chances. Played a very physical, chippy game too. Leafs definitely looked like they outplayed them overall, but c'est la vie. Caps looked totally gassed in the third.

At the end of the day, their star outperformed ours. Which is not something I expect will happen very often over the course of the season.

Last night was partially about some softish goals, but moreso about a misfiring offense. I didn’t feel we had too many dangerous shots on Holtby at all. And it’s felt that way frankly since the Habs massacre.

They all seem off. Matty first and foremost, but Nylander too. Marleau seems just on the perimeter mostly. Kadri is on and off. Bozak is a void. Only Marner and JVR seem like they’re on, and the rest of them, not so much. Rielly too has gotten less aggressive from back there and he was really driving things for a while.

We only seem to play like ourselves when we get down by a few or when it’s 0-0 late and we just get bored and score a bunch.
