you can harp on hyman if you wnat but that line got plenty of chances tonight.
the leafs struggled with the canes speed and tenacity. they couldn't carry the puck trhough the neutral zone and the carolina playrs did a great job of closing gaps at the lines to cut off shoot ins. t
the only two guys who were winning pucks all night were matthews and hyman.
the kadri line couldn't keep up and the bozak line wasn't strong enough on their sticks.
anyways, carolina's really buzzing right now. the leafs got stymied by a great goaltender on saturday and a hot well coached team tonight. no point in panicking.
Right ... and we lost both games 2-1 too so it's not like we were completely outplayed.
HOWEVER, it is time for some much needed adjustment imo.
I can never understand the Babslove for Hunwick and Polak but at the very least, can we rotate the bottom unit with Marincin and Corrado? In the absolute worst case, those 2 are no worse than Hunwick and Polak in pretty much every area of the game, and right now they're just rusting in the pressbox. We should at the very least try to keep them fresh.
I am also sick of seeing Hyman killing chances on the Matthews line. Yes, the line is getting chances, despite we're playing handicapped with Hyman on the line. And yes, I get why coaches appreciate Hyman's work ethics, but enough is enough when it's clear his skill and his creativity don't belong on a line with Nylander and Matthews. Sosh, Brown would both be good replacement for Hyman. Hyman himself would actually look BETTER in a 4th line role too.
And finally, I'm just about fed up with Smith and how even in his very limited minutes, he manges to bring down the team's possession. The 4th line's possession was pretty good with Holland and you can say all you want about Smith is a PKer, but he's a pretty crappy PKer. Let's put Holland back there.
