Can't blame that on Kessel and JVR. Maybe the few stragglers will finally see that Bozak was the problem with that line this year.
 
JVR and Kessel were both okay to good possession players in Philly & Boston before they joined the Leafs...and it would stand to reason that a centre would drive possession far more than a winger on a line.
 
Yeah, I mean the wingers have a big role in the possession game too, but Bozak is just such a blackhole he sinks whatever line he is on. I've said it for years but he is so soft down low. He's not an NHL center, other than he can win draws.

I want Bozak gone too but to say he's "not an NHL centre" is kind of absurd, given he a) made it to the NHL undrafted and b) has played regular top 6 minutes ever since his rookie season.... that being said I hope he has a good season so he can be flipped for some future assets.
 
I didn't say he's not an NHLer, but he's not an NHL center. He's displayed year after year he can't play center. Everyone has just blamed everyone else. Its Carlyle's fault, its Kessel's fault, its JVR's fault.

Its Bozak.

To be fair, Phaneuf and Hunwick played the toughest minutes, so that would be reflected in their Corsi.

There's no reason for Bozak and Lupul's corsi to be that bad though.
 
to be fair, weren't bozak, lulpul and phaneuf matched up against the Pacio line? That guy is simply a corsi beast. I mean, Bozak and Lupul suck, we know that. But let's give it a few games first. Not many lines can out-corsi Pacioretty.

Forget about all this Corsi bullshit.... Montreals first line was far superior to the Bozak line last night which is why we struggled.

My point was that if you want to complain about him for past games, then yeah feel free.. But last night wasn't a great representation of him being a poor possession player, same with Phaneuf and Loops. That top Habs line would corsi squash most lines in the league.
