Seriously, if the other team doesn’t get us, the refs will. They’ll just pile onto Bunting and throw him into the box when needed and that’ll be that.
 
Bunting has made himself useless.
The rest of it will sort itself out, no worries here, but it sucks that he's seemed to have played himself into irrelevance.

there's always the playoffs still, but I'm kinda done with him already in terms of the idea of re-signing. We've gotten our value out of him and it was a great signing for 900k. but now it's time to move on.
 
Find the next Bunting. If glasses is still around thats one area I am confident in his abilities.

Eh...same guy who found Bunting also signed Nick Ritchie to a 2 yr deal as competition for that spot, picked Wayne over Corey Perry, brought in Vesey as a top 6'er, dumped Barabanov for nothing, paid for Foligno to allegedly fill a top 6 role.

We've really entered into "very hit and miss" with his bargain solutions at forward.

Also fwiw, I don't see a "Bunting" out there in free agency next season. There might be some older or busted players for fairly cheap for us to decide if any of them have enough tread left on them (Tatar, Monahan, JVR, Johansson, Sheary, etc), but there doesn't look to be any weirdo mid 20's breakout players on the cheap. Maybe someone will do a Milano again and decline a QO/Arb award (Sprong, Chytil?) and leave someone decent out there.
 
It's fucking hard to find a Bunting. Some under the radar guy who can chip in 20 goals and 50 points, plus plays physical and pesters, who is just available to sign for less than $1M? Good luck. If Dubie could find a Bunting so easily, he'd have found 4-5 more by now.

Even though there's no point worrying about next season when this season is looking like it is right now, I am still concerned about losing Bunting for squat. He's basically our 5th best forward, with Jarny 6th, and both bumped down a notch if ROR stays. It would be tough to replace what the cunt brings.

My nephew might die before he becomes half the player he's capable of, and jumping from the NCAA to anything more than a 4th liner in the NHL at 21 is pretty rare aside from high 1st round picks.

I'd still much rather hold those middle 6 LW slots open for them and huff a bit of hopium that it works out rather than fill the slots wit gud pros that have limited/no upside, but still.
