I prefer that they notL. Maybe they'll find their playoff legs for game 2.
To win like that without much from that so called top line is a good sign. I didn’t think the Aho line did much to stand out, Jarvis was the best of the trio by a country mile though.Good team effort but I'm not sure the Aho line is made for play off hockey. They are very lightweight and it shows.
Yea, after we got the lead the game really tightened up a bit. Far from over but with those couple of key injuries, we should hopefully be able to keep the upper hand.Yeah, that wasn't particularly close. Carolina's going to feast anytime your bottom six is that bad. I know the Devs' depth is under pressure with J Hughes and Siegenthaler out, but their secondary units yesterday were just awful. Also, nice to see that Dougie is still allergic to contact. I know how Lindy Ruff would respond after losing Game 1 like that, but Keefe only had one move in Toronto (double down on defense) and I don't think it's going to do any good in this situation.
Honestly, I know people were excited to get to the playoff games and it WAS loud in the arena, but that game was pretty boring.
There were VERY few Devils fans compared to past series with them. I guess the local NJers aren't too fired up about their chances this season. That said, the ones that were there were enough. We had a couple of drunken idiots within earshot who spent the entire game trying to annoy Canes fans into having a go at them. I walked out behind them and one of them asked what you have to do to get thrown out around here. I will NEVER understand people who pay for expensive playoff tickets and then try to get kicked out.Nice win, great crowd, and amazingly few NJ fans (who had little to cheer about). We were pretty dominant and controlled the flow of play throughout most of the game, especially so in the 2nd period. The Devils were dropping like flies and couldn't maintain a credible threat.
My favorite sign in the arena: "Not Today, Satan!"
