As good as the canes are at home, it was imperative they steal one on the road. To get it in the first game is even better.

Caps were chasing their tail all night they didn’t deserve to win that game and thank goodness they did not!!

That was as good a "team defense" (both by their defensive game in all 3 zones, and as important, by keeping the puck so you don't need to) game as you'll see... not as exciting for neutrals or the ESPN talking head patrol (Levy even whined he hoped more "stuff" happened in the second game), but an absolute freaking clinic. Improve the PP, but we know that hit song

Staal was in beast mode, when he uses that big frame to hound pucks in the offensive zone good luck trying to take the puck away from him, good on his line to get the winner with that work in the trenches.

You can dominate possession and the shots but none of that matters much if you don’t get traffic in front and make it difficult for Thompson to see the puck. He’s having too easy of a time with most of those shots so far

I sure didn't see it until the replay, but that didn't stop me from waking up everyone in our house when Staal raised his arm! Great win, we controlled play from end to end. 5 posts that bounce the right way and this is a runaway win.
