Optics might not allow for thatUnless there is a clear upgrade available then I am all in for a extension.
Of course they’d hire someone worse and go backwards. First move of the new guy will be trading someone important, who likely would be Nylander. We lose that trade handily and then everything just implodes from there. If we don’t advance in some meaningful way this year, we’re probably doing some tear down in two years from now where Marner and Matty are the only survivorsI think the most amusing thing to me behind the notion of firing Dubas is that there is a very real possibility that you go mega backwards with a more traditional or experienced GM and rely less on analytics.

Why does Matthews stay n this bleak existenceOf course they’d hire someone worse and go backwards. First move of the new guy will be trading someone important, who likely would be Nylander. That’s too easy. Hire Chia or ChuckOr maybe you just hire someone who thinks depth players should be good and not Luke Schenn.
We're worried they would replace Dubas with a GM that values gud pros over skill?
Yeah I was in this boat of "fuck maybe they'll revert to a gudpro GM" before but after this years deadline, I'm not sure I'm there anymore. Kyle can go. I wouldn't cry.Or maybe you just hire someone who thinks depth players should be good and not Luke Schenn.

They’d resign him and Marner and rebuild around them. I don’t think any of these guys would leave voluntarily. Anyway, it’s a doomsday scenario that I hope to avoid, but am fearful is en route the way things look. Dubas needs the team to overperform, or the other team to underperform, and just have some benchmark of improvement by advancing, but I’m afraid he’s going to need to get lucky for it to happen now.Why does Matthews stay n this bleak existence
acquiring Schenn, benching Lilly, dumping Sandin for... not much, pushing out Pierre, and generally doubling down on previous ideas that were shitty at the time and remain so now (i.e. giving Rielly a lug to play with, so long as he cross checks forcefully enough)sorry why are we hating on keefe and dubas again?
I'm not following this storyline. Why would it cost them Matthews?Just better hope it doesnt cost them losing Matthews because it just might
Matthews angry team bad goes PHX for gift cards grrrI'm not following this storyline. Why would it cost them Matthews?

NYR and LA are the real threats IMOFrom all reports they are pretty tight and I recall Mirtle discussing their relationship factoring in on his probability of extending.
We all know Arizona is not a threat but its hard to other big name teams in the US not lining up to sign him if the opportunity presents itself
Oh okay, didn't know that. From all reports they are pretty tight and I recall Mirtle discussing their relationship factoring in on his probability of extending.
