GDT | Sometimes you can’t rely on other people’s good luck

While LOFs "if anyone can do it, it's these guys" comment is the most ridiculous thing I've ever read on here, it would sure suck to miss a historic comeback. And I've invested a lot of time and energy into watching this organization that skipping the final episode, even if the show has gone downhill, seems crazy to me and is not even part of my thought process.

But I do get it. These guys have done nothing to earn our loyalty.
missing game 4 will not be missing a 'historic comeback' though. at worst, I'm missing 25% of a historic comeback.

at best, I don't spend another night yelling at my tv and then despondent.

but we'll see, all remains tbd.

It's similar to one who stops watching a TV show after the first season, hears that the 2nd season is amazing and tunes back in during the finale, or a couple episodes leading up to it.

It's fine, but you miss the full experience.

yeah but sports are supposed to be fun and entertaining. if they can't tick those boxes...
Fair enough. It'll only seem "worth it" to experience all of the emotions of the journey if they do the near impossible.

I'll still enjoy this one, probably more than the others. The nothing to lose mentality helps make watching the games fun again for me.

except there is so much to lose! everything to lose!

This is worse. Knowing they won 3 in a row but not experiencing it isn't remotely the same as watching it unfold. With a tv show, you can maybe even enjoy it more knowing it's good. With these games, missing a win and then trying to recapture it is like trying to re-fart - it's already out and gone.

You're already back, just pretending you're not really. Wearing the mask of ambivalence, when you know you're still all in.

My logical nerd side knows the probabilities and is admittedly clashing with my delusional optimistic fan side. I'm a lost soul at the moment. But if they win a couple I'll be all-in. Once it's 3-2 they no longer need to win 4 in a row. The beleaf will be there. But not until then I'm afraid.

The probabilities mean nothing. Anything can still happen, and the fact that it's remote doesn't really detract from the intrigue for me.

I guess it hinges on whether you're optimistic in general or not. By nature I'm envisioning something special happening, and whether it does or not, that's out of my hands. It doesn't take away from the excitement of the game and the chance of winning 1 and then upping the odds by that much more. As CH said, Florida has won 6 in a row since being down 3-1 in the series on Marchand's stick on a breakaway to end regulation in game 5. Just as our shit luck has to flip soon, their crazy luck can't continue like this either. Maybe it runs out today.
