That's one more thing beer is for, man! Please let's take the next two and finish this off in six games, even if it means being awarded the Cup in our opponent's rink.*
*DISCLAIMER: I just realized that Game 7 is not scheduled until Wednesday, when I'll be attending a business conference in Spain. Awaking at 2AM for the opening day of the conference will not be an option.
Yeah, worth noting that Carolina really did nothing to address their two biggest defensive problems in Game 4 and yet they managed to build a lead with sheer determination and battle level and then pulled the win out of their butts in the 3rd. But Marner was still allowed WAY too much freedom when he was on the puck and Theodore was allowed WAY too much time and space to pick out long breakout passes after puck retrievals. A massive percentage of Vegas’ offense in this series has come from those two guys and Carolina thus far hasn’t really done a heck of a lot about it other than trying to match with Slavin/Chatfield whenever Theodore was on the ice … when they could. That worked to a degree, mostly because those two recover better than the other pairings, but Theodore still managed that nasty breakout pass to Stone for a Vegas goal. Marner is still a freaking problem basically every time he’s on the ice.I'm still flying high after that 3rd period performance. It wasn't that the Canes were dominant (we weren't), but rather the determination and the fight that impressed me. Staal's highlight winning goal, Bussi's huge saves when we needed it most, and Ehler's puck luck on the boards, while keeping Vegas off the scoreboard the entire period made for fantastic finish. Now let's get a win at home tomorrow and put Vegas on the ropes.
No argument here. But this is a "what have you done for me in the last 15 minutes" society. Maybe several players really catch fire and make it a very tough decision.I personally have Stankoven ahead because it's a playoffs award. Series Jordan
Yeah, I quit waiting on that a while ago. Svech just isn’t switched on for some reason and Aho has been all over the place in the offensive zone. Jarvis has been much better but isn’t really playing with those guys anymore so I’m not even lumping them together at this stage. At this point, I’ll settle for Aho continuing to hold his own defensively and for him to get some PP production. That seems like a reasonable ask. Svech? Whatever. Just stay out of the freaking box, keep jamming the front on the PP and start annoying the D more than you annoy your own line mates. I thought Marty was going to slug him after a particularly dumb turnover last night.I am still awaiting a game in this series where the big boys like Aho, Svech, etc break out and the team as a whole is firing on all cylinders...I still think it's there and another gear to reach and why not game 5 when the place is going to be jumping off the foundation...
Don't know why - most of his successful teams thrived from his own 'little' guys. He should know how to counter it. His blind spots are pretty obvious though and one of them is little guys.
And Vegas fans are waiting for Eichel and Dorafeyev to go nuts in this series too.I am still awaiting a game in this series where the big boys like Aho, Svech, etc break out and the team as a whole is firing on all cylinders...I still think it's there and another gear to reach and why not game 5 when the place is going to be jumping off the foundation...
St Louis was starting to get pretty candid about his relationship with Torts in Tampa before he started coaching. Suffice to say it wasn’t great. So yeah, it’s always been a thing even when those guys thrived under him.Don't know why - most of his successful teams thrived from his own 'little' guys. He should know how to counter it
With apologies to Jarvy, I just watched the replay and it was 1 on 4. Ferraro described it as a Vegas team picture in the corner.Lost in the glory of Staal’s circus shot is the fact that Jarvis went to the boards 1 on 3 and came out with the puck.
That'll be me in the corner, sitting quietly and leaning away and pulling my beer aside while the two of you crash into the wall next to me.That’s a guy I want on my side in a bar brawl
