KINGS at DUCKS

(Best-of-7 series tied 2-2)

TV: NBCSN, TSN, RDS

Big story: The Battle for Southern California is now a virtual best-of-3, and neither team has won a home game. After the Ducks struggled offensively in the first two games, it's the LA Kings who are searching for answers after scoring twice in two games and getting shut out by a rookie goaltender making his Stanley Cup Playoffs debut.

Team Scope:

Ducks: Who the goaltender is going to be is no longer a question for Anaheim, at least for Game 5. The rest of the lineup is still in a bit of flux. Coach Bruce Boudreau said forward Matt Beleskey is not going to be available again after missing Game 4 with a lower-body injury. Goaltender Frederik Andersen is also out.

Center Mathieu Perreault practiced Sunday and could return to the lineup after missing Game 4 with a lower-body ailment. Boudreau said he will be a game-time decision.

The Ducks have used three new players in each of the past two games, and they've won each to get back into this series.

"For some reason, there was just a calm sense in the room," defenseman Cam Fowler said. "We felt confident that we could come back. That's something that we strive for. We know that a lot of people were counting us out. We wanted to come in here and prove that we weren't going to go away slowly. That gives us a lot of confidence moving forward."

Kings: Los Angeles has faced five goalies in 11 games this postseason, but Anaheim rookie John Gibson was the first new face for most of the Kings. Although the Kings dominated puck possession, shot attempts and shots on goal, they were far from satisfied with the trouble they caused for the 20-year-old rookie in his first NHL playoff game in Game 4.

"We need to do more to get to him, obviously," Kings defenseman Drew Doughty said. "We gave him too many easy shots, and we didn't crash the net and get people in front of him. He played good, but we've got to do a better job."

Who's hot: Gibson has stopped 111 of 115 shots in four games in his NHL career, including 28 of 28 in his playoff debut Saturday. Gibson (20 years and 330 days) is the youngest goalie in NHL history to record a shutout in his playoff debut. In addition, Gibson is only the sixth NHL goaltender in the last 60 years to post a shutout in his first Stanley Cup playoff game, the first since Jonas Hiller did so for the Ducks in 2009 (April 16 @ San Jose, CQF). The other goaltenders to do so since 1954 are Bob Mason (1987 Capitals), Jacques Cloutier (1989 Sabres), Chris Osgood (1994 Red Wings), Andrew Raycroft (2004 Bruins), and the aforementioned Hiller. That's a .965 save percentage for the Ducks rookie. ... Kings center Anze Kopitar remains the NHL's leading postseason scorer with 15 points despite not registering one for the first time in these playoffs in Game 4.

Injury report: Anaheim defenseman Stephane Robidas (leg) is out along with Andersen and Beleskey. ... Los Angeles defensemen Robyn Regehr (undisclosed) and Willie Mitchell (undisclosed) are not expected to be available.
