GDT: Wings/Leafs Centennial Classic | Happy New Year!

Sosh got offensive chops. Great shot too.

He'll be more than a 4th liner.

Problem is, when he has 4th line duty, he hasn't played like he deserves to be further up in the lineup. Maybe if he gets a little more icetime, with more quality linemates, he would show more ... but thus far this season he plays like he is exactly where he belongs on the 4th line.

He also hasn't really blown anyone away when he's been given opportunities to move up the lineup.

Connor Brown started on the fourth line for a while too, but when given his own opportunity to move up the lineup he grabbed hold of it.

Soshnikov is also one of our oldest rookies at 23 years of age. Only Hyman and Zaitsev are older (and Leivo, but he's a "Leaf" about as much as Frankie Corrado is).

So, it's not like he's a young, raw rookie. He's also got about three full years of professional experience, split between the KHL & the AHL. So if he's got the upside to be more than a speedy, smallish 4th line agitator that doesn't score or do a lot to drive possession, he'll need to start showing it soon.

This team has been ridiculously healthy. I hate to cheer for an injury but I really want to see Leivo and Leipsic get a shot. They need to make decisions on them very very soon and it would suck to lose one of them... Especially Leipsic - I care less about Leivo because I'm pretty sure I know what he is; a good bottom 6er that can give you some good PP time and solid possession numbers. But Leipsic.. I'm not too optimistic about him but those AHL numbers tell me his ceiling is much higher than that. He is waiver eligible next year so they need to find out more about him. Plus he's LW, which is something this organization kind of lacks at the moment. Would be nice if he's a solid 2 way 2nd line LW for Matthews, Kadri or eventually Willy. Not too hopeful about it but we'll never know unless they play him.
