Habs 2025 Offseason

Gally scored 20 goals (i won't expect that going forward).....
Slaf needs to do more than 18 goals.....third liners had more goals than him, and he had the luxury of playing with Suzuki and PP time
Evans had a great first half, but then after his contract was signed, he went back to reality
Suzuki-Cole were great, no complaints
Laine will need to heal his knee (maybe surgery), because his skating was not up to his standard
Guhle, Hutson, Demidov.....no complaints, they will only get better....great to see them get playoffs experience
Newhook is what he is.....he's a great 3rd line center, that's where he belongs
We need to improve our depth (3rd-4th line), these playoffs have shown us this

Monty-Dobes-Fowler...let's see what happens.....I think they trade Primeau while his value is at its highest with the great AHL season he just had

MSL probably gained a lot of knowledge in these series

The bottom 6 overachieved this year , it sucked for years with the same crew .

Monty was overworked this year

Slaf needs to take a step.

Perhaps start playing in October?
I know he's only 20-21......but he is what he is....not everyone can come in the league and be all business and hungry like Caufield was....

But 18 goals is absolutely unacceptable for someone making 8M, and playing with a 90-point center (Suzuki), a star winger (Cole)...and having played all year on the 1st PP unit.

Renaud Lavoie mentioned Duchene as our target for 2C.....Renaud is around the team a lot, so he's probably heard things
No, Renaud is a francophone reporter who relies on clicks from francophone Habs fans for his livelihood. Nothing generates clicks more than a "ti-gars de chez nous" coming to play for the Habs. Way more clicks than Barzal or Bennett would generate.

More production and the way he plays. He still is a unicorn, but he’s not using his size effectively. When he’s on fire, he’s an absolute train out there. No one else can do that.

It doesn’t happen nearly enough.

To be fair, guys the size of Cole and Lane have to be all business and hungry or they'll be in the minors. Teams will always be more patient with big physical specimens like Slaf.

Slaf played at a 32-goal pace after the Four Nations.

He needs to up his consistency and to find a way to be second-half Slaf from the beginning of the season.

I've seen this movie way too many times...i call it the Benoit Pouliot syndrome...you shouldn't need someone to tell you to ''up your consistency'' when you're in the NHL.

For sure Slaf is a unicorn, and he's just starting his career....you dream of having a player with his size and talent on your team.

But it's definitely a red flag that he can't turn it on more often, especially when you have Suzuki-Cole on your line showing you how it should be done

Regardless....i'm sure he'll only get better as he matures...and becomes a true professional

Definitely an absolutely huge success of a season for the Habs. Even the most optimistic fan could not have realistically expected to make the playoffs. They are ahead of schedule and have a full season of Demidov to look forward to next season. Also, a Lane Hutson coming off a Calder trophy win.

We can finally enter a season with real expectations for the first time in a very long time.
Yep. Not as upset as I usually am after we are eliminated as this was unexpected. The fact we could easily have won the series 4-1 gives me hopw.
