I'm playing dude
Da fuk all line still shut down Crosby, Malkin, Giroux, Voracek. He's worth it, just like Carbo would have been worth it in a cap world, but because of the cap, I'm not sure how to fit him. I prefer Danault at 5 than Byron and Edmundson at 3.4 and 3.5. i don't like 6 years though, i don't see his game aging well value wise.
Another reason why the contract isn't comparable: Couturier was a 23 year old in the middle of his second contract that would have brought him to RFA status.
Danault is a soon-to-be 28 year old, pending UFA.
Different situations.
By the way, Brandon Sutter got a similar deal to Couturier and while the deal wasn't good, it's gotten better due to the cap going higher. Kinda similar to Mathieu Perreault. Another comparable: Jordan Staal, although Carolina foolishly paid him thinking he'd be a #2 center.
Yup and Couturier at the time was a 3rd line shutdown C & PK specialist....then moved up to 1C 3-years ago. Not at all a comparable.Couturier signed his contract almost 6 years ago and has greatly exceeded his contract. It's not comparable.
Is there a problem with that?So Danault played 11 minutes on Thursday cause there was a chance he could be traded, then his minutes were boosted to over 15 when the trade was off.
Danault will be scarred for life. Shame. Is there a problem with that?
Stop.Danault will be scared for life. Shame.
The guy with Caufield in his name is super-pumped we didn't trade Caufield. Color me shocked.
I don't believe that report for a second, though.
We don't have "minor pieces" we could have given to match the salary cap.
