Habs Season Thread: Offseason 2025

Every single one of my guns has increased in value. I have a few that are worth over 10k each. In America they're also an investment if you know which ones to purchase.

No, it's up to the federal government to enact sensible and very strict gun control laws so that our country doesn't become the shithole to the south of us. Hunting rifles, fine. AR-15's, no fucking way. Handguns, no fucking way. And every firearm you own is registered and insured or you are in violation. Violators lose their gun owning privileges. And if the owner ever uses that weapon for anything other than its stated purpose, they go to prison and they fucking stay there.

That's why you live where you live and that is your right. I choose to live in a place where mass shooting aren't a normal occurrence.

And, by the way, I checked the stats. Do you know that Florida has had 6 mass shooting incidents just since the beginning of this calendar year? It's only May 2nd, for Christ sake. More than one a month. So much "freedom".

How many legal handguns are used in crimes? Do you know any of the stats? Gang bangers don't exactly register their firearms. You are scared because the media brainwashed you but try talking to anyone in LE. Almost every single major police association endorsed the conservatives for a reason.

Mass shootings are a mental health issue, not a gun issue. Morons like you never focus on the salient issues of society.
 
Thanks to Meatball Ron, people with mental health issues in Florida have almost no access to mental healthcare but they do have pretty much free and unfettered access to guns.

And while living in Florida probably doesn't help with anyone's mental health, the fact of the matter is that there are mentally ill people in every country. But not every country has mass shooting incidents on a weekly basis. Only one country has that. The one with no sensible gun control.

It's the fucking guns. It's always the fucking guns.

Then why does almost no other country on earth have the levels of gun violence that they do in the US? Per capita, there are just as many mentally fucked up people in Canada as in the US. But we aren't shooting up schools and shopping malls on a weekly basis.

Blaming mental health is a tired Republican trope to explain away gun violence and has about as much validity and efficacy as "thoughts and prayers", the other trope that automatically comes out of every GOP mouth every time their inaction on guns gets someone killed. And, incidentally, this "blame mental health" approach is also a uniquely American thing to do. The plan is to blame everyone and everything except the thing that matters: the guns.

Like I said, there are mentally ill people in every country but only one of them has mentally ill people also having access to high powered firearms. When someone elsewhere does get their hands on guns and does something hideous with them, it's an outlier. In the US, they call it a normal Tuesday.

The real issue is the mass part. Their argument is if it was a knife maybe one or two are dead instead. It's a stupid argument because even one dead is too many. Sick people will find a way to kill. Period.

They think taking away the guns cures the problem. It's a joke.
