Habs Season Thread: Regular Season 2025-26

Think of him as a deadline pickup who is only here for the cup run...

That's my usual MO...and I'm doing that with Tatar....but a 2 way, Selke calibre pivot who has anchored one of the league's best possession lines for a few years is quite a valuable asset.

Juulsen 37GP in the last 2 years & 91GP in the last 3 years - not 100% convinced he’s claimed.

Also a team claiming him needs to keep him on their regular roster, and Juulsen more than anything else needs near a full season of TOI at AHL level.

I'd be surprised if Juulsen gets claimed.

We basically chose Anderson/Drouin over him, so here's hoping it works out.

2 of Tatar , Lek, Dano , and Armia will be gone by next year

Adding to the obvious hockey aspect, administrative costs in the present environment where US based teams seem to all be under strict orders from ownership to limit any & all spending - I’d be quite shocked if he’s claimed

Question IMO is whether Danault would be open to signing a $5M-$5.5M long term deal with CBJ, if so I could see a deal eventually materializing for PLD.

No other team in the league is able to part with a proven 28 & under C capable of playing 16+ TOI, as part of a package, and the fit with Torts would be perfect.

Add Poehling + 1st and I think a deal gets done. Assumes CBJ is dead set on a C coming back there way of course, and they’re not interested in a pure futures package

Totally convinced regime was never going to that number if he is the third C moving forward

Its time to let the kids play and see where they are at . No issue with Dano but he is what he is and not thrilled with extending another 29 year old to a mega deal .

If Dano has to play a top 6 role in 2 years ....WE ARE IN TROUBLE

Not enough , need to include a CC and not RP

RP right now is worth another 21-22 year old who hasnt proven anything but has some upside

No other NHL team can match that offer w a proven youngish top 2C. Unless Jarmo is ok with not getting a C back in a deal instead willing to go with Kakko etc.

Add to it, we no longer live in the age of the hockey trade - there’s obviously an internal spending cap imposed on every US GM.... it’s a pure question of solvency for CBJ.

How badly do they need to make the playoffs this year based on ability to survive as a franchise, and not go under? I suspect futures deal is a no-go, they need NHL ready talent who can contribute immediately towards that playoff goal, but affordable enough to meet their salary structure.

The unofficial depth chart:

If its a solvency issue the wiesel better handout some Zona millions

Looks like this league may finally not live in a fantasy world where multimillions were given out to hit a black circle object

Been watching enough football

I think RDS may have the stream free. Not sure.
