Half of this team's roster is made up of guys who can backcheck. Let the scorers concentrate on scoring and let the less talented do the spade work. Did anyone care that Gretzky couldn't backcheck, or check at all? If Hoffman can score 30 goals I couldn't care less about what he does in the defensive zone. Hoffman is Toffoli 2.0 is he not? Last year they wanted Hoffman, he signed in St. Louis so they got Toffoli. Now they have both. He’ll provide an offensive boost, particularly on the power play, just give him a defensively responsible winger. The question is who’s his center: KK or is there someone’s else they can bring in? Maybe use Drouin in a package for a second line center.
