Collapsing in game 7 was the best thing that has happened to this team since 1967. When we lift the cup, We should send everyone on both teams a thank you ring.

Not really. Their response to the collapse was to acquire Bernier and sign Clarkson and Bolland. The playoff season was arguably the worst thing to happen to the team. Those contracts could have and should have been absolutely crippling.

Not just that, but they also signed Kessel and Phaneuf to nearly untradable contracts. The season post-playoffs was an unbelievable chain of inept management. It's stunning to see Shanahan clean up that mess so effortlessly.
 
Yeah it's pretty easy to forget that Robidas and Lupul are still getting big ass pay cheques

That's the cost of cleaning up the mess from that playoff appearance.
