I believe you but other times it can be not that good.Schwartz was amazing the one time I had it . Actually surpassed the hype.
I remember when one of the waiters ran for Mayor of Montreal.Celine got a stake in Schwartz's in 2012....place reached legendary icon status way before then.
Jim’s has the best CS’s in Philly. By a mile. The only reason they have lineups at Schwartz's is because it became a tourist trap as soon as Celine got involved. I used to go there back in the day and never had to line up. Now in the summer they're lined up down the block to get in.
Same thing with Philly cheesesteak. Every tourist goes to Geno's but around the corner at Pat's is where the locals go.
Hasn't it closed shop in Montreal?I wonder why Moishe’s didn’t make it in Toronto?

Our local Costco's here in Edmonton stopped selling the coleslaw a few months ago. Can't find it anymore.Moishes had plans to close on St-Laurent for a long time because they wanted to open at Square-Victoria to have a lunch clientele. Covid just gave them a reason to pull the trigger.
Moishes makes most of their money off the stuff they sell in supermarkets (pickles, coleslaw), so they're in no rush to open back up.
Mr. Steer, another classic place, great choice! Though, unfortunately you missed the heyday when there were strip clubs on both sides (instead of just one) and their bouncers insulted each other.Well it was a great trip. Arrived Monday night and hit up Hooters for the all you can eat wings. Tapped out after 3 plates, sil after 5. Tuesday hit Ruebens and Bier Markt after a day of visiting churches. Missed helicopter tour due to accident on highway so took in light show at the Notre Dame which was spectacular. Wednesday hit up Mr steer before the game. And what a game. Regulation win to start the season. Thank you guys for all the suggestions.
Yeah I was in Montreal back in August and was amazed at just how many peeler bars have bitten the dust. There used to be one on every block of Ste. Catherine Street. Now there's Chez Paree on Stanley and one or two along Ste. Cath. Too many guys watching internet porn in their mom's basement instead of going out to see real live women. No wonder we have an incel problem.Mr. Steer, another classic place, great choice! It was iconic for a long time before it became a tourist trap. The long line up's are a more recent phenomenon (10-15 years maybe) Back in the 80's I never saw big lineups although the joint was always busy. Maybe because back then the Main itself wasn't as gentrified and touristy as it is now. I don't think many tourists were steered in that direction 30-40 years ago. It's much more tourist friendly today.Celine got a stake in Schwartz's in 2012....place reached legendary icon status way before then.
