It's been a long four years, the return of the magic number thread

If the Habs take care of their own business they won't need other teams to lose. They're in a playoff spot right now so if they don't make the playoffs it will be because they didn't win enough in the last 7, not because Columbus or the Rangers did or didn't do something. They control their own fate and will have no one but themselves to blame if anything goes wrong.

If the Habs were in 10th then they wouldn't control their own fate and would need a team in front of them to lose. But that's not the case here.
we aren't going to win 7 straight, that is silly thinking, every game we don't have to win is a bonus

Okay, well they aren't closing them all at once and not all of them are being closed this summer. In fact, it may not even happen this year. Fortunately, unlike Vancouver we have several bridges and several options to get from somewhere to somewhere else and none of the bridges in question are ones that I need to use. The only one I use regularly is already under construction as it is being widened and a section of a new LRT line is crossing over it. It's a bit of a delay on my commute home where it bottlenecks, but aside from that I've no problems.

We don't need to win them all. If we assume that we won't run the table why assume that Columbus or the Rangers will? A loss for them in any single game is far more impactful on their chances than a loss for us because they're already behind. We aren't. If the Jackets lose to Toronto I won't be heartbroken but I'm not going to root for it either.

thank you for mansplaining that too me, but in the end, I want to clinch asap and Columbus losing their next three to Leafs and Senators x2 goes a long way to having that happen

Rangers need to lose a few too

I'm quite happy to root for the Sens to beat them twice. And I actually see the Rangers as the real threat; the Jackets not so much.

The Leafs board are the obeyers. This board is full of crazy libertarians who think that all taxation is theft.

I'm just flowin' with the goin'.
