Laval Rocket Thread

I thought we could have gotten more but I’m not complaining. Toffoli was our best tradable asset, with Lehkonen.
More than this? Maybe at the time you thought Heineman was a B level prospect? If he continues to improve and becomes a 20g defensive guy? I think they got great value for toffoli, nobody else offered more.

The key part of the Toffoli trade is the same as the Chiarot trade: The first round pick.

That was the second time Heineman traded before he turned 20 and that's not by chance. Prospects like Heineman may hit, they may not, but they're always very expendable. There's a reason why Calgary didn't include Pelletier, Zary or Coronato.

I think we got excellent value for Toffoli, but the first round pick is a lottery ticket.

They got the same for Toffoli as they did for Chiarot. Quality top-6 winger with 3 more affordable years on his contract. Not a bad return but hardly a steal.

And Toffoli will probably be the best player and have the best career of all those concerned in the end.

Which, I suppose, in a salary cap world, or factoring in the age differential doesn't mean much. Trades are no longer just players for players. I miss those. And I was never a fan of Toffoli, regardless. He didn't raise his game or do much in our playoff run.

In a funky way it could be second overall.

Sent down for the important game tonight against Cleveland.

The Rocket currently sit fifth and last in the playoff race in the Northern Section with a 29-28-10 record for 68 points, one more than the Monsters (30-29-7), who have one game in hand.

the guy is 6 ft tall and weighs almost 200lbs -- might be too big for us
