Laval Rocket Thread

I'm feeling more positive that he will get a chance in the show eventually as well. We need more of our own picks to work out.

We need to put them in roles to succeed , I feel more confident in Ducharme as the coach

RP, CC , and the Finn should stick at some point next year

Bouchard >>> Boucher >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Lefebvre
Bouchard is kind of the coach that can probably do well in juior and AHL but he will not survive in NHL because of his character, how Torts does during all these years is a big question mark?!!!

Disagree. Coaches like that, who are also good coaches, typically do well over 2-3 year periods WHEN they replace more “player-friendly” coaches. It’s all about when you bring in someone like Torts.

How can people still question Torts.....

He's won a Cup, has made another Final...numerous conference finals...his teams often over-achieve....and he's won like 3 coaches of the year award.

For a guy supposedly disliked by media, he sure gets lots of respect from them (the Jack Adams is voted by media/broadcasters).

Torts is an amazing coach...i'm sure guys like Weber-Price would love to have him instead of the constant French rethreads....

I think Bouchard will eventually be a HC in the NHL and if they wait too long it won't be with Montreal.

oh the undeserved torts love again

lets not get confused here
2 jack adams - very good!
one cup - appears to be a fluke - as he has never come close since
and he has made it into the third round other time

missed playoffs
missed

lost in 2
won the cup
lost in 1

lost in 2 (or 1 - depending what what you call the play in round)
is currently out of the playoffs

so yes he would be a good habs coach - get into the playoffs and lose

yes he won the cup in 2004 but that was a long time ago and he has had pretty much zero playoff success since

lets talk about another gruff guy
sutter has won 2 cups, lost in the finals once, and the third round twice
that is MUCH better than Torts

That take is somewhat disingenuous - CBJs never had anywhere near the talent his Cup winning TBay team had - it’s comparing apples to pears.

Without Torts, CBJ doesn’t even achieve the limited success they’ve had last two playoffs...which is the point that was trying to be put forth

and his poor playoffs with tampa?

as for columbus show me a good goalie and i will show you a good coach - 2 playoffs ago they kept their stars and still bowed out early
but credit for last season (post bob, panarin era) - but Elvis was really good in his own right

it is funny because people ragged on Therrein even though he did as much with the habs as torts did with the jackets
and we all would have traded the habs roster for the jackets roster at that time

Therrien was doing small miracles with our roster.

It is just coaches don't have as much as authorities as before, and yelling and disciplinary stuff won't have that much of effects in today's pro sport, not only hockey. It is the same in soccer and pretty sure other sports.
You turn just a star against you for a simple morning skate and you can be pretty much done in long term. That is how it is..

He is the media's dream for sure.

But again this is a very small sample of decent results, lets see what he does in longer term.
