Laval Rocket Thread

I see Laval this way:

Develop potential D in 3-7 range. Maybe higher. Good weigh station for building an NHL D core.

Develop bottom 6 forwards who can credibly play in NHL on a good team. I’m skeptical that Roy will amount to much and have zero expectations for players like Mesar, Kidney and Farrell. It is more relevant for players like Tuch and Beck. In this day and age, most top 6 guys go straight to the show or maybe have a cup of coffee in the AHL.

Goalies: playing time for what is pretty much black magic or a lottery. Who the hell knows?

I don’t really fret about the W L record.

Agreed. Roy is a nothingburger at the NHL level, except on a bad team like the Habs. He's an AHL star.

Beck, Tuch, and eventually Hage are the forwards who Laval needs to develop into credible NHLers.

I was dead wrong about this game. Rocket outshoot Belleville 32 -19 and win 3-1. Someone lit a fire under Roy, he had one goal and two assists and 6 shots on goal. 2 goals for Davidson.

Harvey-Pinard's conditioning stint is finished and looks a long way off. Wonder if he will be waived to get more time in Laval. I don't think anyone will pick him up.

I think with Roy the comments earlier in the year about Learning to be a pro actually meant that he needed some time in Laval to grow the fuck up.

He's likely needs to do some growing the fuck up.

WTF is wrong with you guys? Just because he's not star material doesn't mean you should talk shit about the guy. I do hope he makes it somewhere, seems like a hard working dude.

Once a player is no longer part of the organization or, like RHP, is part of the organization but has no future with it, that player is dead to me. I dont know any of these players on a personal level so in my mind they are just chess pieces that get moved around the board by HuGo. They are animate objects, merely a means to a greater end. Once they are no longer able to serve that greater end I don't care if they live or die.

I'm sure RHP is a nice person and a player who works hard but all that is immaterial. He's either helping us win the Cup or he isn't and if he isnt then he is simply in the way and needs to be removed. If RHP is put on waivers and claimed by another team that values him more highly than HuGo, good for him but I don’t give a shit once he's gone.

I only care about our team and our players and only to the extent that they can be useful in the pursuit of a championship. Aside from that I don't care about them. They are paid professional players; mercenaries on loan to the highest bidder who are only here to do a job. I won't get misty eyed over any of them unless or until they bring me the championship to which I and all other Habs fans are entitled.

I wouldn't count Harvey-Pinard out yet as a contributor of sorts with the Habs. At least as long as Marty coaches He gave this team a lift with his play two years ago, and Marty seemed to like him. He'll get another chance.

Good for him to earn an NHL salary , Pee Nard is not playing on a contender

He got his chance on a shit team getting significant minutes he wont get anywhere else
