Leaf Rumours

[MyNameIsJonas]

Even more abusrd, really the NHL has to fix this payment thing because pretty much every player except a few are making way too much.

according to you...

[Habsy]

I still have a sneaky suspicion it will come down to Washington and NJ.

If Clarkson walks Lou may throw the money at Lecavalier to replace some of Parise and Clarkson's production.

[Habsy]

Didnt he say years ago he wanted to be with the Habs? I know they are on his list of teams supposedly but they are pretty deep at centre currently.

If the Habs acquire Lecavalier they will move Plekanec. A lot of rumors about teams contacting the Habs regarding Plekanec.

Sign Lecavalier, move Plekanec for a winger and a prospect.

Instant upgrade.

That said, I truly believe Lecavalier avoids Canada like the plague.

It would take an amazing sell job by Bergevin to convince him to come home.

[Habsy]

If he signs in Toronto will you call yourself Leafsy?

No, but I'll choke on my own vomit ever game.

[JaysCyYoung]

If thats true, then its an absurd overpayment for a guy who has only once cracked 30 goals and 50 pts, he realistically should be making no more then $3M, but of course the leafs will overpay to get this guy.

fair enough.

[Hoss]

I think nonis could offer exactly what is remaining on grabovskis deal and offer 5.5 x 4. Then buy out grabs. I think that might be a good offer money wise

[Killer93]

Vinny makes too much sense as a UFA signing; fills a need that we have been missing for awhile and would be a wise way to spend some of our cap space. Given it makes sense and that it is a huge need.....highly doubt we get him lol

[IrishWolfman]

There has arguably never been a better time for Vinny to sign in Toronto

- no one can pay him more
- He'll play with top linemates in Kessel and JVR
- He won't be expected to fulfill a leadership or media role with the team as that falls to Dion and Loops

[zeke]

I would love to see Vinny in a leafs uniform but IMO no way should we "overpay bigtime" for him, lets get real here while he still has some gas left in the tank his best days are long behind him. I'd offer him tops a 2 year/8M deal, thats it if he doesn't like it he can go scratch.

5yr/$6m

With all the speculation today; been told there is a very high chance Leafs stand pat and wait for July 5th; we shall see

[Cojo]

That figures.

[MyNameIsJonas]

not diving head first into high draft day prices could be a very smart thing.

[Preston_Mizzi]

Dreger saying there's a good chance we move into the top 5 in a trade with the Canes.

ughhhh really hope its not at the cost that was talked about last night......

[Killer93]

Increasing site hits IMO

[Corky27]

Ya I can't see any reason for the leafs to move up in this years draft, unless it's just a couple spots.

[Metalleaf]

Sounds like BS, Nonis said they weren't trading up.

GM's are ALWAYS honest with their intentions..

[Killer93]

I just don't see a fit; what could Carolina want? Unless we are parting with Gardiner? We shall see a guess; I was told it was relatively quiet on the Leaf front; and that we will be making likely "the best" offer to Vinny
