Leaf Rumours

Reilly for #5 is a must if it's on the table. We have four first pairing guys, all young. Reilly is the least known and most expendable, and likely has the most inflated trade value out of anyone because it's 100% based on hype and potential. If it lands us our top line center for the next decade plus, do it.

As for Phaneuf, said it before and saying it again, he had a bad playoffs and really isn't true captain material. And he's moving into the final year of his deal. Could totally see them wanting to trade him. Doing it leaves us weak back there unless Reilly is ready to step right in. If he is and we can get our center for Dion, that's maybe a franchise making deal. Trading one of our older core players, replacing him with an equal newbie, getting an elite newbie at center, and shedding lots of space off the cap. High risk, but I think I'd do it before trading Reilly and roll the dice on two elite prospects stepping up.

Mike Reilly is a Columbus Blue Jackets product.

What are you talking about, Mike Reilly?

Anyway, getting the next Mats for an arguably underperforming soon to be UFA, while replacing him with a prospect who could be much better than him sounds pretty decent to me.

Honestly dude, you're pretty gay. That needs addressing.

What have you got against the LGBT community? Why would that "need addressing?" I would think that on the final weekend of Pride Week we could come together and not have to deal with this sort of bigotry anymore.

You'd fit in perfect with kb and Fred Phelps though.

Jays in your opinion, do you think Rielly will be better than Gardiner and why?

I absolutely do think he will be better than Gardiner. Higher offensive ceiling and better offensive instincts. He's a better skater and carries the puck more effectively.

Keep in mind that Gardiner came into the league as a 21 year-old rookie. He wasn't playing against grown men as a 19 year-old and those two years of additional development are massive.

All I'm saying is, I don't think there's an actual homosexual out there who has behaved gayer than you just did.

If the Leafs are trying to sign Phaneuf to an extension and are having a hard time then maybe it wont be such a bad thing to him trade for #5. What it suck? Absolutely sucks for he coming season but the void on defense can be offloaded by another acquisition.

We really need that #1 center and this draft is the place to do it.

Theoretically, sure.

But how often do 25+ MPG defenders come onto the market? You can have all the faith in Rielly and Gardiner that you want, but they're definitely not at that level yet.

The only way you are replacing phaneuf is if Gardner and/or Rielly pan out. It's not like #1 dmen are any easier to get than #1 centers.
