Leaf Rumours

Are you trying to say that Mueller and Boedker are worth 2 30 goal scorers??

Now you're just f**kin with me right?

LOF claimed that Poni and Hagman were relatively young 30 goal scorers... I was only arguing that statement.

I don't think any team looking to spend money on scoring help is looking to trade highly touted prospects for 30 year old 2nd/3rd liners.

Because neither are "top" prospects anymore

At 19 and 21 years old I don't think that they have lost that title just yet. Boedker is definitely still a very good prospect... Mueller's stock has definitely dropped but I don't think anyone is giving up on him yet.

I don't even want Mueller.

That is a total lottery ticket and I wouldn't want to pay anything for it. Plus he's American. Too many of those on the team already. ; )

Those guys still have a lot of value, I'd take a chance of them for sure. The kind of guys we should be targeting, but there's no way they'd let them go that cheap.

You used the word "top" prospect

A 21 yr old on pace for 14 points this season, with a concussion already on his medical chart, and a soon to be 20 yr old who had 5 points in 12 AHL games before the recall, scoring 1 point in 7 games since in the NHL....aren't "top" prospects.

Boedker is an intriguing prospect, yes....but he's gotta start showing some of this offensive ability of his soon to continue to be considered much of a prospect at all....and Mueller seems to be falling off the planet as we speak. These are young players that other teams take a chance on, not top prospects to be coveted and pursued endlessly until you get them on your roster.

I'd love to pick Mueller up for the right price....but he's quickly turning into a reclamation project and not the sure fire star he looked like 2 years ago.

Not sure why....Tlusty hasn't scored at quite the level we would like to see him at in the AHL this season, but he hasn't regressed at all....which Mueller clearly has.

The only slight difference being, of course, that Jiri Tlusty is playing in the American Hockey League, whereas Peter Mueller is playing in the National Hockey League.

The way Peter Mueller is playing, he doesn't belong the NHL right now.

The way Tlusty has played in the AHL over the last 100 games, he doesn't belong in the AHL.

Opportunity.

Two years ago Mueller played 18 minutes/ game with almost 4 on the PP and scored 22 goals and 50 points.

Last year he played 16 minutes/ game with 3 on the PP and scored 15 goals and 40 points (pace).

This year he is playing 13 minutes/game with 2 on the PP.

It would be a mistake for Phoenix to trade the kid. One that if they are seriously considering, the Leafs should be there to capitalize.

The Atlanta Thrashers have two solid goalies -- and that's without their incumbent starter, Kari Lehtonen.

Lehtonen will be back from injury around New Year's, but Ondrej Pavelec and Johan Hedberg have proven to be a solid one-two combo. So Lehtonen will likely be the odd man out.

So, as the Hockey News writes, the Thrashers will have a tradeable asset in Lehtonen and, despite his $3 million salary, the suitors will only have to pay about $1 million two-thirds of the way through the season.

So a possible landing spot? How about Detroit, where the Red Wings are still hoping the Chris Osgood-Jimmy Howard combo is good enough.

But, the Hockey News writes, Lehtonen has to play well and stay healthy, or else he might end up in the KHL.

Get him on the cheap Burkie.

and we could have had one for dirt cheap in the off season.

Thanks Burkie....I still contend that he ****ed up royally by not cutting bait on Toskala in the summer. All 3 of Anderson, Nitty, & Biron went for dirt cheap this summer, and would have been excellent tandem options regardless of how Gus turned out.

We should have gone into the summer with the plan in place that we were eating 4 million in salary in the AHL this season.

Yeah, totally dumb shit hanging onto Toskala.

As I've been arguing since September, we should sign Manny Fernandez. Nittymaki is already gone and tearing up the league elsewhere. Fernandez, unless he has some medical condition we don't know about, should be signed tomorrow.

As mentioned in the game thread, I think the best thing to do right now is to sign Fernandez... two way contract and literally cut bait on Toskala and send him down if need be.

Lehtonen = Dipietro almost.

This guy's NEVER been healthy. Not somebody I would want on my team. Gusto's heart is definitely alarming though and hopefully Burke is courting the league inquiring about some goaltenders.
