Leaf Rumours

Man - not to stir up any bad memories here.. but:

Toskala, Bell for Toronto's 2007 1st/2nd/4th

Toronto's 2007 1st/2nd for St. Louis's 1st

St. Louis's 2007 1st = Logan Couture

Nope, it was Lars Eller, not Couture. St. Louis traded the 9th and 13th overall picks with San Jose.

Toronto's pick became Eller, but San Jose dealt that pick (along with our 2nd) to St. Louis to grab Couture.

So our two draft picks, turned into Logan Couture.

I believe that was his point.

San Jose traded for our 2007 1st/2nd and 2009 4th, flipped the 1st and 2nd with St. Louis to move up 2 spots to select Logan Couture 9th overall. Sorry if it wasn't clear.

If Giguere just needed a starters role and a change of scenery to get back to his .920 dominant self....then yeah, worth it.

Giguere would likely sign an extension for a good chunk of money less than he's making now, and could pretty easily provide elite level goaltending for the next 5+ years.

No, msun is definitely right. Couture missed significant time in his draft year because of mono and ended up trying to play through it. Due to his senility or pride Kilrea was playing him 25-30 minutes a night for the 67s right when he came back and should have been playing light minutes. His status amongst scouts suffered as a result. He was one of those considered first overall material and he's proving it with Worcester now.
I wasn't really contesting anything he said. I was merely pointing out that he had a clear drop in production after his draft. This was overlooked, but whatever.

According to Dreger, Kaberle is not likely going to submit a list of ten teams so baring a change of heart i guess he will be stayingat least until the draft. He also said that up to ten teams are interested in poni and we are asking for a second rounder plus a prospect or roster player.

I like the sound of both of those.

that prospect or roster play has to be decent, though, not just a nothing.

I really wonder what kind of value Tangradi has.

He sort of came out of nowhere last year to dominate in junior, and has taken a step back as an AHL rookie this year.

Not exactly sure what to think of him.

Some Pens fans would call us crazy for even suggesting that we could get Tangradi for Poni straight up, but I'm not so sure.

I really dont get Kaberle's agent.

Burke attempted to deal him this past summer for forward help ( Kessel) and with the forward UFA market incredably thin. It seems to me anyways that dealing Kaberle for a number 1 center or winger ( really does it matter?....compliment to Kessel either way) is the easiest way to get it done.

At least if Tomas gave a list now, he could save being dealt to Serbia in the offyear

I am glad Kabby and his agent are stopping Burke from making a big mistake.

We'll see how eager he is to deal him this summer when he sees how Kabby/Phaneuf do on the PP the rest of the season.

That IMO is wishful thinking.

Burke is genius when it comes to maximizing assets.

He needs a forward....He has an asset....He moves said asset for said forward.

and then he needs a new Kaberle.

I'm not certain that he does.

i think 5 on 5 a core of Phaneuf, Schenn, Komisarek, Beachimen and Gunnarson along with "x" is very very good.

He could easily get a PP specialist bottom pairing dman for 2.5 or so IMO. Say a Kim Jonsson in the offseason.

Not to say he will replace Kaberle but i think it would be a very nice bandaid. Even giving Gunnarson a shot wouldnt be a bad idea.

Or, or....trade for Cam Barker.

I highly doubt that Burke moves Kaberle at the draft itself, and nobody will trade for Kaberle until the music stops on the major pieces of free agency.

Hopefully by then, Burke has found the pieces up front he wants and has no need to deal Kaberle.
