Why not? Bozak was a drag on Kessel offensively (.90 G/60 with Bozak, 1.30 G/60 without), Grabovski was brutal offensively (was matched offensively by McClement last year) and Frattin was invisible after his #Kemisdri fueled ppg run to start the season. MacArthur was a nice complimentary piece, but again, most of his success came while feeding off of a hot Kadri. Adding Gardiner over whoever, Bolland over Grabo, a healthy Lupul and the further development of JVR will more than offset what that group of passengers provided last year.

Nonis and Bergevin are taking the same tack. They are building from within and will only take UFA on short terms. If Briere didn't accept 2 years max then Bergevin walks. I think Nonis is of the same mindset, some of the players being discussed aren't worth the long terms they are getting. Ribeiro may be the only exception.

Nonis is much sharper than Burke in a lot of ways. He was the one who screamed at Burke in a rare fit, that we should take the first round pick from Nashville in 2013 and RUN. Wouldn't Seth Jones look good right now? He could meet Dion at the airport, as Dion heads out of town.

And if Nonis is really sharp he will sign the first half of the Kessel/Bozak show, to a contract.
