DarrenDreger Franson trade speculation will heat up. Leafs would like to keep him, but $$ is too much. Prospect and draft pick fair return?

If we trade Franson now, unless the return is ridiculous, I think he'll end up making Leaf management look very foolish very quickly. Too bad Nonis put himself in a salary cap squeeze by overpaying for a backup goalie and third line forward this summer.

Rid Liles and keep Franson.

I don't believe Franson is on the move though, the way he played such a key role in the latter part of the BOS series, this is a young dman on the rise and you don't dump him now.

Yeah, I wouldn't get rid of him either. Can play in all situations, makes the PP dangerous and has played with tenacity ever since we got rid of RW. Drop others if needed, but the Leafs should do all they can to retain him for the long haul. His development, along with the progression of Gardiner and Rielly would actually make our decision with Phaneuf a lot more interesting.

Problem is you likely can't trade Liles - he's total dead weight. Maybe if you eat half his salary, but that doesn't help you too much.
