Leaf Rumours

Love the indecision with this team management. Sit Gards for a game and play fraser - then realize your grave mistake and do the opposite a day later. Send Holland down for a few because you only see a "4th line" role for him, he rips it up in the AHL, then realize you are wrong and bring him up after a few games.

Coach and management gotta go

Agreed. I think Carlyle is fired at the latest by the offseason, if not sooner if he keeps these antics up. Nonis I don't see him going anywhere, the guy has a 5 year deal which he just signed last offseason I don't see the higher ups turning around and firing him.

Kadri On The Move?

On 'Leafs Breakfast' on TSN Radio 1050 on Thursday, TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger said believes that Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nazem Kadri is available in trade discussions, but that the club is not eager to move him because of their weakness at the centre position.

"I have been told bluntly by Dave Nonis that he needs a centre in return," Dreger said. "Who is going to give you a better centre for one they think might develop into a better centre?

"This one is going to be crafty. I do think he gets moved this year, but it's going to be a delicate one."

It just doesn't make any sense to move Kadri. I can't see us getting a better centre in return, and that's clearly a position of weakness for us. Unless you're comfortable going with Bozak-Bolland-Holland. But Holland hasn't shown he can be as productive as Naz yet.

Would you do Kadri for ROR? Not me personally but that ROR rumour has been around for Gardiner.
No. Ryan O'Reilly is an excellent third line center, and a pretty good second line center. Gardiner and Kadri both have top-line talent that ROR will never have.

Because of the way Calgary set up his offer sheet, he's also going to end up getting hugely overpaid on his next contract.

Trading Kadri is excessively stupid... very few returns would could convince me this is a smart move.

Only team that may make some sense if Winnipeg and that would means a mix of players like Little, Scheifele, Bogosian, Buff coming back with a package including kadri, franson, riemer going the other way

Kadri/reimer/franson for RNH

RNH is overrated he hasn't really put up great numbers and this is playing with guys like Hall and Eberle

2011-12: 52 points in 62 games= 69 points over 82 games
2012-13: 24 points in 40 games=49 points in 82 games
2013-14: 36 points in 47 games= 63 points in 82 games

Bozak playing with guys like Kessel and JVR/Lupul
2011-12: 47 points in 73 games=53 points in 82 games
2012-13: 28 points in 46 games=50 points in 82 games
2013-14: 22 points in 25 games= 72 points in 82 games

As for RNH over Kadri no thanks just yet, Kadri has shown he can play a more complete game, keep Kadri as the 2C IMO.

Outside of RNH's first season their numbers have basically been identical, and the big difference is RNH is a 1st overall pick vs Bozak who was never drafted. I wouldn't be so quick to give up assets on RNH just yet...

Plus Gagner's a winger, and Nonis said he's looking for a centre if Kadri's dealt so no I don't see a Kadri/Gagner swap coming up anytime soon.

a Kadri trade is hard because of how tight the Leafs are up against the cap.

He doesn't make all that much and would require someone of similar salary to come back, not easy IMO.
