TB working to finalize a trade to send Brian Boyle to TOR. No trade call so nothing official yet.

No word yet on what we've traded away.

EDIT:

To Toronto: Brian Boyle
To Tampa: Byron Froese, 2017 2nd round draft pick (highest of the three picks they own, with the middle pick being part of the Frederik Andersen deal)

Wow didnt expect this. Mentioned it would be a good idea if the price was right a while back

Considering what Martin Hanzal cost, I'm scared to find out what we gave up.

I also hate that we're acquiring a rental player. Don't really get it.

I'd imagine Boyle will be someone they try and extend. Move him to the wing when Nylander is ready to take some C time.

They're probably going to extend him.

Which I am all for. He's a great player and will be very valuable on a 1-2 year extension.

Anything but a first rounder and I'm happy.

I like it. Playoff experience is what we're going for. And it has to be cheap, we wouldn't have given up much.

This may well also mean they're trying to move Bozak.....

1) I feel like based on Hanzel, this has to include a 1st, or Kapanen

2) I would suspect they are fielding offers on Bozak or someone, to recoup what is lost in this deal

I can't see them surrendering a big return just to upgrade on the 4LC. I think he is the 3LC replacing Bozak and sliding in behind Matthews and Kadri

Love that they want to win. Boyle is a good vet. Don't love giving up anything of value for Boyle, who at the end of the day is just a solid 4th liner. So we'll see.

Big upgrade? Sure. But I'll reserve judgement till I see the cost. I liked what Lou said last week. The plan is the plan and they are sticking with it.

Swapping Boyle in and Bozak out with the cost/gain of each trade being a wash or so makes a lot of sense to me in the short/long term.

Frees up room, and a Boyle extension should be less than Bozak's

Kapanen? You're on crack. Worried that it may be a 1st but I'm thinking/hoping that it's a 2nd+ and that they sign him to a handsome 2 year extension. Cap hit doesn't matter much with the space they'll have.

I don't think with those consistent goal totals we can say he's a fourth liner. He's a third liner, and they'll probably try to resign him so that they can move Bozak and load up the kids on the top six.

Big guy who can chip in a bit of offense and take big d zone draws.

He can also add some size on the pp when needed. Ie he makes it easier to deal jvr
