Leafs acquire Matt Murray

Yeah, Chris Johnston said we wanna resign Boosh unfortunately.

As a #7 for the minimum, whatever. But we all know Keefe won't be able to fucking help himself and Sandin/Lilly will be sitting despite Keefe refusing to play Lyubushkin for more than 14 minutes a night because he doesn't actually fucking trust him to not kill us when he's on the ice but OMG young defenders are so risky, right!

Honestly, should fire Keefe before Dubie for failing to get the scorers going in the late stages and for wasting able young bodies in favor of shit vets.

If Lilly and Sandin were playing instead of Lubie and Holl, do we lose? Does Jack have enough to win one of the last two? I'd bet yeah.

I'd be curious what you would do next at this point.

So, is it your position that our problem is scoring in the latter part of playoff series...specifically our best players? Would you be willing to elaborate on this point over and over again?

I'll do that when I feel the need. For now, I also gave you the sitting kids over vets issue to munch on.

My previous plan was based along a few general lines

- 1 safer option and 1 risky option in net, costing as little as possible but up to 7-8 million was fine (Murray at 50% or more retention was fine enough as the risky option....but, well fuck)
- Ship out our excess salary (Mrazek, Kerfoot, Holl) and letting excess FA's walk (Mikky, Jack if he was expensive)
- Have cap space available to take advantage of someone else's stupidity (Strome on a 2-3 yr for ~3.5 would be fucking beauty, for example)
- Feel free to dumpster dive for depth, but don't be afraid to leave a spot or two open for Steeves, Anderson, Douglas, Holmberg, etc to see what we have in house. We have a bunch of 23-24 yr olds now, they're not kids.

The only thing this really changes is the composition of the 1st point, in that we can't afford a safer option at a full cap hit anymore. So there's two ways forward from there I think (maybe 3). Pay the asking price for one of the established veterans who are allegedly available (Varly, Talbot) and pay extra for some retention (hey, we've got an extra 3rd and a 7th....) and failing that, swing as hard for the fences as we can with whoever our goalie people think the best breakout candidate available is whether in free agency (Comrie, Samsonov) or by trade. Take a swing at whatever the best euro available is as well and maybe pull a Francouz out of our asses or something.

I wonder what Comrie and Samsonov get on the open market though. $2M? $2.5M?

On a multi year, probably about there, yeah.

Shit, I know it runs against convention because hockey is a rigid fuckshow of old rules nobody knows why they're important....but signing both wouldn't be dumb given our situation.

You gotta just pick one and run with it. You can't now burn another $2M of cap on a guy to back up the backup.

Let's just get one of those two for cheap and go shopping for Strome and other good young forwards to plug into the lineup.
