I think that's actually a misinterpretation of some info we got earlier - I think the Leafs did the pick swap only after the guy they had ranked 15th got taken in the few picks before them. But I think they did have Minten ranked as a 1st rounder.

I honestly don't care much about NCAA stats at all.

This kid is gonna be something. His size and speed, and the crash and drive style he plays, would be insane alongside guys like Matthews and Tavares. Just insane.

I was kind of open to dealing him in a Kane type of deal, but I'm getting pretty closed off on that. I'd trade any of the other guys first, including Hirvonen, Niemela, Voit, etc. I need to see this guy play on this Leafs team because he's got shades of JVR and LeClair. A little Svechnikov-ish. I don't even care if he busts, I just don't want to not give him his chance and lose the chance to keep him.

It’ll be awesome when we add Minten and Knies to the third line. Other teams would be excited about guys like them and Robertson, Sandin and Lilly being a core.

A big reason why the Leafs were high on Minten despite his middling production is because he didn't get topline minutes and especially top PP minutes.
