Leafs' Prospect/Marlies Discussion Thread!

Villeneuve is 2nd on the Marlies in ppg, with only Steeves ahead of him. Villeneuve's at a 57pt pace.

on another note, sure seems like the silence has been deafening on that Webber kid we signed. not a peep about him that i can recall. not a great sign.

I mean didn't team nerd conclude pretty quickly after the signing that he was likely a dud?

i'm lumping in playoffs with regular season here.

And people will blame it on trading picks, but we had 8 picks this year and none of them look like prospects. A couple years ago we had that 12 pick draft and Villeneuve and Akhtayamov are the only hopes, so I'm not sure that having more picks would've helped.

It'll be interesting to see how the draft changes this year with the Stars/Wings guy in charge, instead of the Soo guy. They have 6 picks, and should pick up more trading Krok, Kampf and Benoit.

I guess the somewhat good news is that it seems like they have a number of actual prospects who could be pushing for nhl jobs next year - Cowan, Haymes (I think), Villeneuve (better be at least), Steeves (if he's still here), and maybe the goalies too. Even a low-upside guy like Quillan might be legitimately pushing for a 4th line spot.

Chadwick will be with the marlies but i'm guessing he's not realistically in the nhl picture next year.

nah they'll trade Villeneuve for a mid-round pick. maybe pretend to give him a chance to earn a spot.

Cowan I probably agree with you on.

Haymes is gonna be blocked by the Laughtons, Kampfs, Kroks, and Patches of the world.

Quillan they seem to like.

Steeves I'd be shocked if he's still here on opening day next year. We're just not interested in developing our young talent or giving them legit opportunities, with rare exceptions
