Leafs vs Sens - Fuck you zeke

Keefe on Marner taking the shot in OT: "It was part of the plan that (McFarland) put in place, to be honest. We knew they would make things pretty hard on our shooters with Willy & Matty on the sides & thought there might be a lane there ... he sensed the lane & made good on it"

I'm not sure Babcock actually used McFarland.

I think Babcock sketched out the rigid power-play scheme he wanted them to stick to and then tasked McFarland with implementing it. But neither he or Hakstol were permitted independent thought while Babcock was here.

What I wonder is whether it was the same way when Hiller and Smith were here, or if that's just another way Babcock decided to spite Dubas.

Did anyone else make the mistake of leaving HNIC on until Burke who's raving about truculence?

Yes, I am also watching this game....

This is the mindset of someone who pays Mike Komisarek and Colby Armstrong, he sees legitimate, important value in that type of player. A more contemporary example is Lou and his bottom 6 spending spree in NYI. They don't see those as mistake contracts because the way hockey games are won in their mind, you "need" those guys.

Btw...with the opposing net empty, the Leafs have a 86% xGF (best in the league).

4th best xGA
3rd best xGF

Not a single useless plug in sight.

Think so too.

BABS
PP: 13g 74ppo (17.6%) 22nd
PK: 21ga 78pko (73.1%) 30th

KEEFE
PP: 22g/69ppo (31.9%) 1st
PK: 12ga/68pk (82.4%) 9th

I'm still so fucking angry.

Here's some serious consistency:

Mitch is also currently on pace to score 24 goals & 88 points in only 71 games.

I was bitter as fuck at how his camp conducted itself during negotiations, and at the fact that he raked the Leafs over the coals and sucked up every bit of available cap space. But I have to give credit where credit's due.

In order to earn that money, Marner had to be one of the best offensive players in the league, and he's gone and done exactly that. And it certainly doesn't look like his 94-point season last year was an outlier.

I'm equal parts angry and confused.

Confused that somebody in the organization insisted on keeping him to start this season, and confused at Babcock's behaviour. If you didn't know any better, you'd think the man set about trying to get himself fired.

CBC better shred both of these teams in the 2nd intermission. If they accuse the Leafs of not playing D....this is just...woof.

I don't profess to know anything about Kappy, but he definitely loves de women.

Hope he doesn't waste as much time on that subject as I did, at his age.

Its why, I say, this is a guy who probably throws away his date book, during the playoffs, and nails it.

No question, he will stagger to put up decent results in the regular season.

But he is a playoff beast.

Hyman, is damnit, pricing himself out of our cap book. Gotta hand one thing to Babs, he sure saw something here, and its there.

Looking back, I think Babcock's deployment of our top players suppressed their numbers and that none of them are likely to end up being overpays if you give them the minutes other players of their calibre get.

Of course, that was zeke's theory the whole time so credit where due.

That’s a pretty soft schedule. Seven out of the ten games are against teams we should absolutely beat.

With the Florida game and two Pittsburgh games, we’re facing more of a challenge. But you’d hope that we beat the Panthers and at least split those two games against the Pens.

Hutchison. Playing a good game.

This Keefe.

I dunno guys.

This guy, can coach. Creates an environment.

Suspending Kappy and letting social media know about it?

I love Kappy and Nylander.

If the Leafs were to win a Cup with these two guys, Tanenbaum would make gabmlions, with their exploits.

Sounds like Barkov might not play tomorrow

Yeah he got hurt in the second period last night and didn’t return. I’d still expect a fired up Panthers team due to the egg they laid yesterday. Weather the first 10 minutes.

How about that 4 forward PP to end OT?

Tavares / Matthews / Marner / Nylander (CBC would include the total salaries on the ice)
