Re: Les Habitants Prospects Thread - 08'-09' update

There's an interesting article about the Habs prospects in Hamilton on HF. I can't post the link because I'm new to this forum but i thought it was worth mentioning anyways.

Note:
Didn't see this posted yet so please forgive if i'm repeating but Valentenko will be playing for Dynamo Moscow at the Spengler Cup.

Weber had 3 goals in the 2 games this weekend. I'd still like to see him called up.

Re: Les Habitants Prospects Thread - 08'-09' update

Yannik Webber offensive game has really come around netting 11 points in his last 11 games including 5 goals. He is currently 8th in the AHL for defencemen in points and tied for 2nd in the AHL for goals scored by defencemen.Needs to work on his defensive coverage as the Habs brass feels Weber is not ready defensively to play in the NHL.

Patches has been improving in the point department as well. In his last 13 games he has 11 points.(3 goals and 8 assist)He is getting better as the season goes on but I would like to see him throw his weight around as his speed and size allows him to throw some nice checks. He does go to the net and doesn't mind playing on the boards so he can play that type of game.

Nice to see these rookies improve as quickly as they are. Keep it up boys!!!

Re: Les Habitants Prospects Thread - 08'-09' update

The Bulldogs called up goaltender Loic Lacasse from Cincinnati of the ECHL yesterday because Cedrick Desjardins is out with a groin pull according to THE HAMILTON SPECTATOR.

Re: Les Habitants Prospects Thread - 08'-09' update

Chipchura got the first, putting the puck in the far top corner over Pogge's glove with a wrister.

On a broken play Carle made it 2-0, pinching on the PP, after Dan Jancevski broke his stick on his shot.

Max Pacioretty scored a beauty goal showing off his speed getting pass a defender and making it a breakaway. He showed off a nice fake move to get it pass Pogge. Two games in a row in which Patches scores a highlight reel goal. He is developing just fine in Hamilton IMO.

Russell skated in on a three-on-one with two other 'Dogs before wristing it pass the goalie.

Re: Les Habitants Prospects Thread - 08'-09' update

Thanks for the updates guys. :cheers2:

Think Pacioretty will get the call up now that it looks like Tanguay will be out for a while?

I think Chips would get the call up first. He has played wing beforeand he is more mature.

Note:

O'Byrne / Maxwell to Hamilton
As per rds.

Re: Les Habitants Prospects Thread - 08'-09' update

After the callup of Marc Denis from Hamilton, the goaltending is getting a little sketchy.

We have Cedrick Desjardins next in line but he is out with a groin pull. So i'm not sure if he will be set for friday. So goaltender Loic Lacasse will probably get his first AHL start friday and Saturday as there is noone from my point of veiw left to even back up Lacasse on the depth chart.

Hamilton's feeder team in Cincinnati is in just as bad shape having only Kyle Gajewski who is a Nashville prospect. Lacasse is in Hamilton and Martin Houle quit to go to college leaving the Cyclones exploring their options for goaltending.

Edit:Cyclones added Lee Lansdowne to roster.Lansdowne's primary duty was Video Coordinator.LOL Problem solved!!! http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=53411

David Fischer is having decent season for the University of Minnesota. Having 11 points in 16 games this season. Even more impressive is he only finished only one game with a - rating. He's +12 for the season.

Quailer is producing lately. 4 points in his last 4 games. So far as a freshman this season he's got 12 points in 17 games with a + 5.

After having an amazing 6 goals in his first 6 games defenseman Joe Stejskal goal scoring cooled off but still had 3 assist in the last 6 games.

Patrick Johnson is now far behind his last year's production. He didn't play last night as he out with a knee injury.

In the NCAA Andrew Conboy penalty minutes is still up but he is struggling to find his scoring touch he had in the USHL. In 16 games he has 2 goals, 2 assist a -9 with 62 penalty minutes.

Interesting news from last night's Russia-Czech game:

Pierre McGuire said that more than once this season, Alexei Emelin has been a healthy scratch for his team in Russia (Kazan Ak-Bars)... but the Habs can't do anything about it because of his contract. They really need to get him over here.

Don't both Emelin's & Perezhogin's contract expire at season's end?

Re: Les Habitants Prospects Thread - 08'-09' update

I believe they do expire this year.

Re: Les Habitants Prospects Thread - 08'-09' update

The Canadiens organization has to be thrilled with the performances of their prospects at this year's tournament. Looks like Subban and Torp are probably destined for Hamilton. McDonagh is a qustion mark as he could benefit playing one more season in NCAA.

Here's a good article on the three prospects and Habs' assistant GM Pierre Gauthier's thoughs concerning their future.
