Les Habitants Prospects Thread

The thing that I question is that he's 21 perhaps playing against 18-19 year olds, I hope that doesn't tilt the scale.

Two-three years difference may not seem like much but at that age group (18-21) there's a big difference, more than a 24 vs 27 year old for instance...growth spurts, strength, speed take a huge step from 18 to 20.

Actually it's a bit the opposite since most college players are around 20 or more so it's much harder the first few years in the NCAA. Late bloomers are a common thing in US College. John Leclair went through a similar path, having his best season as a 21 years old.

in college hockey seniority rules. That's why they don't blossom until 2-3 years when they actually get ice time.

is it different from a 20 year old kicking ass in the CHL playing against 17-18 year olds?

good for him....lets hope that we have a few surprises in the system to offset the eventual busts...because sadly...not every pick will turn out...even first and second rounders

(and yes im captain obvious)

Hamilton Report - Nov. 14

Despite a tough start to November during which they’ve yet to post a win, the Bulldogs have still been able to count on the contributions of veterans Duncan Milroy and Maxim Lapierre.

- Milroy is off to a solid start in his fifth season with the Canadiens’ farm team. The right winger has a goal and five assists in his last four games, including four points in the Bulldogs’ 5-4 overtime loss to the Rochester Americans on Nov. 9.

- Lapierre is once again cruising as he was at the beginning of the season, when he racked up seven points in three games. The 22-year-old has found the back of the net three times in his last four games and leads all Bulldogs with seven goals.

- Rookie sensation Sergei Kostitsyn has tailed off slightly after a remarkable start to his professional career. The former .London Knights star still leads the team with 13 points, ranking him fifth among AHL freshmen.

- The Canadiens’ second round pick in 2006, defenseman Mathieu Carle returned to action on Friday after suffering a knee injury during Canadiens training camp back in September. Carle, who spent his junior career with the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies and Acadie-Bathurst Titans, was held off the scoresheet in his first two games.

- Another new face in the Bulldogs’ lineup, veteran defenseman Joel Bouchard, has had had a positive impact on his team. The former New York Islanders rearguard has picked up four points in five games and posted a plus-4 differential since joining the club. Bouchard signed a contract with Hamilton after taking part in the Columbus Blue Jackets’ training camp in September.

- Yann Danis and Jaroslav Halak have been splitting the netminding duties since the start of the campaign. Danis may have only won once in his five starts, but he’s put up more than respectable numbers over those games, with a 2.66 goals-against average and a .917 save percentage.

Lessard scores two third-period goals to lead Hartford over Hamilton 3-2

HARTFORD, Conn. - Francis Lessard scored twice in a two-minute span in the third period to lead the Hartford Wolf Pack to a 3-2 come-from-behind win over the Hamilton Bulldogs on Friday in AHL action.

Andrew Hutchinson scored Hartford's other goal and Hugh Jessiman assisted on both of Lessard's goals.

Marvin Degon and Sergei Kostitsyn scored for Hamilton, while Corey Locke had two assists as the Bulldogs dropped to 4-7-0-3 on the season. Locke's two assists leave him 12 points shy of overtaking Brian Swanson as Hamilton's all-time leading scorer.

Al Montoya turned aside 28 of 30 shots to pick up the win, while Jaroslav Halak stopped 37 of 40 shots for Hamilton in the loss.

Hamilton opened the scoring on the power play at 9:19 of the first period when Degon potted his second goal of the season.

The Wolf Pack (9-6-0-1) tied the score at 1 at 5:59 of the third courtesy of Hutchinson's fourth goal of the season. Kostitsyn then gave Hamilton the lead again just two minutes later with a one-timer that beat Montoya.

That goal set the stage for Lessard's heroics later in the period.
