MLB 2024

The only wild card round series to go three games, the Mets are in Milwaukee, with the winner getting the Phillies. The other NLDS matchup features bitter rivals the LA Dodgers vs the San Diego Padres.
In the AL, the league regular season leaders NY Yankees will play the KC Royals. And the other features two AL Central foes, the Cleveland Guardians vs the Detroit Tigers.

Should have finished this off but somehow, I forgot.
In the NL: the Mets beat the Phillies, the Dodgers came back to beat the Padres, then won the NL title in six games over the Mets.
In the AL, Cleveland beat Detroit in five while the Yankees beat KC in four, then beat the Guardians in five game to win the AL.
In the World Series, the Dodgers took out the Yankees in five games. And Freddie Freeman took MVP honors, slugging four homers in the first four games of the Series and knocking in 12, tying Bobby Richardson of the 1960 Yankees for the most RBIs in a Series. But he did it in five games, compared to Richardson's 7 games.

For the post-season awards:
  • Manager of the Year: AL was the Guardians' Steven Vogt (becoming the fastest to go from retired player to Manager of the Year); NL was Pat Murphy of the Brew Crew
  • Rookie of the Year: AL was the Yankees' Luis Gil; NL was the Pirates' rookie phenom Paul Skenes, who finished third in the Cy Young voting! Btw, the first time since 1981 (Dave Righetti, also of the Yanks, and Fernando Valenzuela of the Dodgers) that two pitchers have been the ROY winners.
  • Cy Young: Tarik Skubal of the Tigers was the AL's unanimous choice, while Chris Sale of the Braves took 26 of 30 first place votes to win surprisingly easily in the NL.
  • MVP: AL was Aaron Judge of the Yankees; NL was Shohei Otani of the Dodgers (the first pure DH to win, and only the second to claim the MVP in both leagues. The other? Frank Robinson, who won with the Reds in 1961 and the Orioles in 1966. Yeah, Shohei is now in that elite company.
