Europe has nutters too:

- Kolakusic is an anti vax loon who claimed in front of European parliament that 10's of thousands have been killed in Europe by covid vaccines.
- Anderson is a far, far right German politician best known for lying about her professional experience and being part of an organization screeching about the islamicization of germany. She's a member of the AfD party in German, which is probably best compared to our PPC.
- Terhes is a former roman catholic priest who has in the past tried to have covid restrictions overturned in European court (it went predictably poorly). Also a member of a right wing fringe party that used to be in power in the 90's but went off the rails since and now has one elected member of EP (this guy).

Hard to imagine that the UCP could get more right wing than it is now but I doubt that Kenney is going to provide much of a bulwark against the party going full fascist. He's fighting for only one thing: his own job. If he has to wear jackboots to get that done he's definitely going to do it.
 
Libs sticking with McGuinty/Wynne baggage is a killer for them. Especially when Ontario likes to offset Lib fed governments with Con provincial governments, and vice versa.

But it's early.

Ford is gonna cruise to reelection. Was always going to be so. Only thing that maybe hurts him is the massive surge in covid cases I am expecting...

del Duca is a nobody. no one knows him. he has no major policy ideas he has articulated. he has no compelling vision.

Horwath you could easily convince me has been on the conservatives payroll all these years.

Ford wins by... default, thanks to his embarrassing competition. my two cents...
 
Yeah, this is totally unsurprising, unfortunately. The Libs going with an anonymous, loser, ultra McGuinty/Wynne-era party insider schmuck as their leader and the NDP giving Horwath yet another kick at the can sealed this outcome.

Plus, regardless of the reality, I’d bet that the overwhelming majority of people in the political center in Ontario think Dougie did a good job managing the pandemic.

He really didn't do too bad, mind you with Alberta as a comparison, or the clusterfuck that was trump's take on the pandemic it's easy to shine.
 
Gotta say, this whole "Pope apologizes for residential schools" thing is a little deep to take an April Fools joke, no?
