New Canadian Politics Thread

are they? haven't paid much attention to the polls but Smith has been a raging tire fire...
It is by no means a guarantee that the UCP are winning this. Several high-profile old school PC's are publicly telling people to vote NDP and many lifelong conservatives are saying that they're switching too, simply because Smith is too batshit.

Over the weekend I was visited by a couple of NDP canvassers who wanted to tell me about their local candidate. I told them to save their breath. I only need to know the guy's name so I know where to put my "X" on the ballot. I'll vote for a poodle with its fur dyed orange before I'll vote for the fascist UCP candidate, whoever he or she is. I'm going to go to an advanced polling station after work to get it done. Most people in my office aren't voting UCP either.

She’s a clown, for sure.

338 gives UCP a 75% chance of winning. Apparently they are going to hold enough Calgary seats. Edmonton and rural areas are on different planets.

But NDP still has a chance…

It will all come down to a handful of Calgary ridings. When Smith won the leadership and needed to run in a byelection they forced an incumbent MPP in the sticks to resign and create a vacancy rather than run Smith in an already vacant Calgary riding.

Edmonton will be orange. So I'm biased but I hear a lot of folks here that would normally vote UCP will not be voting at all.

Yeah, she's unhinged, caucus full of loonies. Constant ethics violations, scandals, etc... Really one of the most brutal campaigns you can run.

The race is close, probably a coinflip still at this point.

according to https://338canada.com/alberta/, it looks like you will have to obey Smith come Tuesday morning
..

Bringing yonge st down to one lane in both directions through the bloor corridor and turning the south end of the bayview extension northbound into bike lanes for sparsely used bike lanes was pretty dumb.

Giorgio Mammoliti was by far the most aggressively ignorant and stupid man in Toronto city politics for a couple of decades, which is saying something when that includes multiple members of the Ford family.

Last I heard he’d moved out of Toronto and moved up North a few years ago. Disappointing to see that his dumb ass is back.

Yeah, there's really no reason cars should be allowed on Yonge south of bloor at all.
