Ya, no way he waits any significant amount of time. Maybe takes a little time to do some Prime Ministerial looking stuff and show the country that he's a serious dude with serious experience and a serious contact list. But no way he lets the "unelected PM without a mandate" narrative take hold.

Yeah, that's what I figure happens as well. Spend a few weeks to a month looking the part, the trip to Europe, getting the premiers in line with his strategies on managing Trump and ensuring that his message on that is solidified publicly and then call it.

Yup. Even this probably undersells the Liberal numbers a bit as well, the biggest shifts in the last 2 weeks have come from Ontario and Quebec, where the voter projections are still clinging to a lot of old "CPC +18" polls that clearly don't represent reality anymore. This is just going to keep sliding in Ontario, and even being down 2 points in Ontario is projecting out to an 11 seat advantage for the Liberals.

BC is interesting to look at as well, a few Pollsters are coming up with L+5 type results, while a couple are insisting there has been no movement and are still generating C+15 type results.

I don't know if Carney can secure a majority, but I think our most likely outcome has definitely shifted to another Liberal minority.

We're very, very natural replacements for Russia in European trade flows, and they're very natural replacements for the US in ours. There will be some inefficiencies with shipping times and cost, but O&G, steel, timber, uranium, etc. They need it, we have it and we both have unreliable trading partners on the other side of those flows.

Oh, for sure. But those big suburban franco ridings can be volatile. The one constant is that Pepe is not much loved.

I believe Carney will call the election this week.

The alternative is having parliament return on the 24th, without Carney, and then needing to rely on the NDP to keep things going. It will look weak. If Carney calls it first, it’s on his own terms.
