New Canadian Politics Thread

If I had been told the Carleton results in advanced, I would have just assumed that the Liberals tanked their way to 190+ seats.

This was always the most hilarious possible thing to happen tonight, but if it did I expected it to be by like 100-200 votes at most. Beating Pierre by over 3 points in Carleton was not on my bingo card tonight.

yeah, we need a CPC civil war now. When they all wake up tomorrow to another Liberal-NDP coalition (or even a super, super tight Liberal majority) and their leader having lost his seat, 143-145 seats isn't going to feel like a good result. Especially when all of the "historic collapse" think pieces come pouring out of the media.

Pierre losing his riding by 3.8% now, and that number probably grows as the late votes to be counted will probably be Liberal friendly advanced polling ballots.

Electoral reform would hasten this too.

What's the point in PC's, Reformers and PPC freaks all trying to find a way to keep shacking up together if FPTP isn't a thing anymore and each group could vote for their own party without fear of their votes handing victory to the Liberals or NDP?
