They could do it a bit more strategically, perhaps. That 200 km long straight-as-an-arrow stretch of the 401 from Oshawa to Kingston could probably sustain a higher speed limit fairly safely. I don’t see why the highway needs to be sped up through the GTA though.

BC highways have speed limits up to 120, including on windy mountain roads. I’m a granny driver out here, taking blind curves at 90+. Not sure why that is the case, but I assume it has something to do with placating some voters in Kamloops who comfortably fly through these mountain passes at what seem like insane speeds to someone who grew up in Ontario.

Anway, what other provinces are doing does not really matter to me, except perhaps as a cautionary tale. These decisions should be data-driven and informed by actual research, not politics.
