No Excuses No Limits! The mother fucking goddamn season thread

I like Risto better than Laughton. He is big, mean and can skate. And is a righty. Nothing special but can play big minutes. And is a big upgrade on Myers/whoever other than OEL Rielly plays with.

But they gotta eat a bunch of cap hit and then we are locked into our top 5 for a couple more years.

Plus it’s probably going to cost Minten and a 1st for Laughton/Risto + retention.

According to Puckpedia, if the Leafs waived Reaves, Dewar, Holmberg, Hakanpaa and Timmins they would have $4.7 mill in cap space with a 20 man roster.

and, of course, if you're trading for an incoming player, you could remove yet another player caphit to keep the roster down at 20 man.

So literally just by getting rid of the contracts of guys who won't be dressed for games when we're healthy, we'd have near $6m in capspace.

So even when you add in 2-3 sub $1m caphits as extras, you still have millions in capsapce available.

an easy way to look at it, using a reasonable 22 man roster, with the extra guys already being guys we have used regularly this year:

So $5.6m to fill 2 spots. $11.2m with max retention.

And that's only by dropping guys who wouldn't make the starting lineup anyways.

that's not even moving more expensive bottom liners like Krok and Kampf, just removing guys who wouldn't be in the lineup anyways.

"if they want to get one of the good players at the deadline they will have to pay the usual deadline price that everyone pays"

good stuff.

Not excited at all by any of these proposed Philly acquisitions. Would rather just stand pat if Laughton and/or Risto is the best we can do.

There aren’t really many good centers or D available. There are a lot of wingers though. Tuch, Rakell, Boesser, Smith, Zucker, Palmieri. Maybe Rantanen.

How much is someone like Smith, Palmieri or Zucker going to cost? That’s a bigger upgrade on Holmberg/Patches then Laughton or Kunin is on Domi.

Tanev and Lorentz both on the ice for morning skate.

Could really really really use Tanev back for these games vs VGK and COL.

2 players I hadn't seen mentioned but could be a good fit.

On the ducks: Strome and Gudas

Considering the Leafs tried to sign Gudas and were told that he doesn’t want to play in Canada in general and in particular not in Toronto, I’d definitely take a pass on him.

Didn't know that, figured it was just the normal... similar money but Cali weather and taxes.
