No Excuses No Limits! The mother fucking goddamn season thread

what were the practice lines the other day with matthews in them.

iirc

Holmberg - Matthews - Nylander
McMann - Tavares - Marner
Robertson - Minten - Nylander
Lorentz - Dewar - Steeves

So it was Grebenkin that was out. With Minten bumping Holmberg to the wing.

Knies coming back just fills McMann's injury slot for now.

So I guess the safe bet to come out would be Grebs, but i think he had a good game last night.

This is Kyper’s repeated head trauma talking, as per usual. Trading one of Stolarz or Woll before the playoffs would be flat-out insane.

And then no matter how well they play in the AHL this year, you’re never going to get good value for 22 year-old goalie prospects with no NHL track record.

And why the hell rush into choosing between Akhtyamov & Hildeby now anyway? Neither is waiver eligible this year, or even next year. And trading one at this stage would be a perfect recipe for dumping Rask 2.0 while keeping Pogge 2.0.

I mean those guys won’t have an impact for years, so if there is interest it makes a ton of sense to move your 4 goalie for something that can help now… like a new president, GM and coach.

If other teams value them like a 1st round pick in a trade, might be worth considering if we can get something we need IMO.

Remember when we had Pogge and Rask and rushed to decide which to keep? Making a trade from a place of depth to address other needs often doesn't work. Jays did this as well with their catching situation 2 years ago.

I think y'all are making too much of a meal out of that idiot's yammering.

If he's not completely full of shit, making the entire thing up out of whole cloth, the depth goaltender he's likely talking about is Matt Murray. Murray has a .914 so far (5 games...so yeah, chill). If I was a GM who could use a backup/1B upgrade, Murray has to be on my shortlist for cheap additions.

Very rarely do prospect goalies get traded, and when they do it's usually the elite elite prospects who actually have value in the market (Rask, Askarov). Nobody is giving up anything for Hildeby or Akhy, and we're not taking a 4th for them or some shit.

The issue was trading for Raycroft, not necessarily trading Rask.

And the chances of either of our kids being Rask aren't great tbh.

We're trying to win a Cup, not cash in on half of our last line of defense with the hope to build towards the future of the team years down the line.

Given that goaltending has let us down so many times in the playoffs, I'm shocked anyone would consider trading either of these cheap good goalies when the guys behind these guys have like 1 game of NHL experience combined. Unless we want to rely on Murray, which doesn't seem like a good idea to me.

The chance of rask being rask wasn't high either.

3 young goalies and 2 of them cheap. Keep them unless a big offer comes

True. We've had tons of interedting goalie prospects over the last bunch of decades and.only one turned into a Rask or anything close.to.it.
